I’ve never heard of Lagrein. If I can find one for $15 or under I would try it but I usually don’t spring for wines that expensive!

  • Whitcraft 2001,2, and 3 Lagrein. Mosby 2004 Lagrein. And just yesterday, I had an Italian Lagrein Rose which was very interesting. I forget the producer, but it had dark and dank aromatics with a little poop that Gary was talking about today. All the Best.

    lurker…

    I’ve never had a lagrein.

I just started watching the show this week (found it on hulu) and I’ve been through around a dozen episodes. I’ve gotten away from wine drinking recently b/c all of my friends are beer drinkers and they’ve gotten me into beer. The show has inspired me to try and introduce them to wine.

Also it would be cool if you could do some more beer library tv episodes.

  • Stephen (lurker)

I have never had one, sadly.

Being a PA resident, it appears I’ll have to venture to New York or to Jersey to locate some.

    Hi Gary
Thanks for shedding some light on this grape variety. To be perfectly honest I didn’t know much about it. Helped a bunch.

I had never heard of the Lagrein wines until today. Heck, the spell check for this comment box says I misspelled it and says it should be “lag rein.” Obviously, computers can’t give a good sniffy-sniff to increase their pallets of words.

All of the previous comments are from Lurkers… so we get to see tomorrow’s LBF episode. I have never heard of Lagrein, so I will now seek it out. GV – continue doing shows on lesser-known varietals!!!

We’re supposed to have “Thunder” storms tonight in Iowa, so all is right with the world…

Another good effort at bringing out the more obscure Italian vinos.

QOTD: unlike the Gavi I have not had a Lagrein. Will BOLO this weekend.

Never heard of Lagrein. It sounds like ligroin, though, which is a low-boiling fraction of crude oil… but I didn’t hear you mention any gasoline smells, so I guess they are different…

… one more lurker out of the lurking-area! Keep drawing us out, Gary.

I’ve never had or heard of lagrein before today. After work I called around to the few places that sell harder to find wines, and 2 out of 3 never heard of it, and the third didn’t carry it (no demand they said). So if I do try it I guess I’ll have to find it online.
