QOTD: never even heard of this grape. but sounds good. i love trying grape varietals better than just trying a different producer of the old merlot or whatever…

    great show!

I’ve never tried a Lagrein before but it’s on my list for the next trip to the market. 🙂

Though we’ve never had one, my husband and I would love to try a Lagrein. Very entertaining show… we want to take a bite out of that earthy quality you described so vividly. Any suggestions on a bottle that a PhD student and a high school teacher could afford?

No, Gary, I’ve never had a LaGrein. In fact, I’d never heard of it before today. I will, however, look for it and try it.

One thing missing, I think, from today’s show, Gary. In fact, from some other shows as well. When you have big, “tough,” tannic wines like the ones tonight that you feel need for a disclaimer, it would be helpful if you always mentioned what you though of their aging potential. How do you think they might change, and over what period of time?

Never had a Legrein nor heard of it.

Not 21 yet, but come August I’ll be driving up to wine library for a visit and some shopping. Also looking forward to seeing you in Edison.

I am a lurker. Found the show a few weeks ago and intend to review all of them. I am down to 446.

Question of the day: If we have a sniffy sniff, why don’t we have a whirly whirl?

  • Robin C

QOTD: No, I’ve never even heard of it. I’m going to e-mail my friend who lives in Italy and ask her if she’s ever heard of it. I’d love to try it though. Sounds intriguing. Hope the lurkers come out. Making a comment is not very time consuming.

QOTD: Yes, I’ve had a Lagrein. The last one was made by Tieffenbrunner(not sure of the spelling). It packed a lot of punch. I enjoyed it.

  • I have been lurking since just before episode 400 and didn’t feel ready to comment until I had tried a few wines, considering I was never into wine before watching the show; which I found through twitter/diggnation. After getting into the message of the show, I have tried some new wines, including my first sauvignon blanc, which happens to be from Chile. I’m into it, pretty interesting.

Anyway, I just ordered the book this morning and am looking forward to a 4th gen wristband. Gook work, for sure.

Never heard of Lagrein but I love Italian reds. I will look for it this weekend but selecions in Idaho are often limited.

What is a Lurker? I won’t admit to it until I know what it is.

Pennsylvania carries 3 different Lagrein producers. There are currently 69 bottles in the entire state. I’m sure glad I have to but all my wine from the PLCB.

P.S. I’ve started watching episodes on the ipod, but I promise to log on to leave comments. I don’t want to make you sad Gary.
