QOTD: Love this question! Having just been Father’s Day. My story has to do with my dad. He was and still is a HUGE Cab fan. Loves his Cabs. I mean, he goes out and gets 6 different Cabs each week because he can’t get enough of them. He came to visit me, and I told him that we should try something else, knowing that he needed to expand his pallet. After talking to him about it, he promised me to go out and try different wines. I love my dad, and each time we drink wine together, I try as best I can to expand his pallet and enjoy a nice glass of non-Cab(with a Cab here and there every once and a while). But there is nothing better than a nice glass/bottle of wine between my pops and I.

QOTD: The face of my brother after he tasted his first “real” wine : a 2003 Mitolo GAM Shiraz πŸ˜€

  • QOTD: Almost every time my wife and I enjoy a wine that both of us go WOW over is the best experience.

  • Dr T from N. Carolina

My wife is a good European — wine is to drink, not to analyze. Her response to swirl, sniff, swirl, slurp and think, swirl etc. is to roll her eyes. Still, she did enjoy introducing me to the wines of her home district in Croatia the first time we visited.

  • Wait a second Gary, you’re suppose to let your guest ask the QOTD! You got carried away! Also, you sure were interrupting the guy a lot today! Let the man speak! πŸ˜‰

QOTD: Hmm with a family member… probably January 26th, 2008, I brought a bottle of 1978 Bordeaux over to my sister’s house for her 30th Birthday. She was shocked and probably hasn’t ever had a wine older than 5 years, so that was great fun! She really enjoyed the experience, even if the wine was a bit over the hill.

QOTD: Unfortunately my family does not drink, so unless my wife counts as family then it would be our Oregon trip that was our first real tasting trip.

A winery opened near my home and they started having a patio dinner and music night once a month. I set reservation for six and invited my mother and her sisters and my grand mother so I could introduce them to my girlfriend. We had a wonderful night of music, wine and cheese tasting. My family fell in love with Cindy almost as much as I am, the amazing thing about that night is even tho I have been watching WLTV for almost a year now, and I have never had a glass of wine in my life. It was a great experience. Now every glass I have is expanding my pal and I am always trying something new with my fiancé.

I think its amazing what you guys do. 2brothers have an amazing thing going on, and its good to see someone doing something like this.

So probably in the next couple weeks, i will go out and look for a bottle, i know I have seen bigtatoored in the stores, so im sure this is around somewhere.

QTOD: Getting yelled at by my parents for drinking their wine when i was younger..lol..probably recently, going to wine tastings at like Trader Joes and Total wine with my dad and how it has brought up something we can work with.

  • David Troyer

QOTD: Having a glass of wine with my 93 year-old Grandmother whom came from a very conservative background and even up to a year ago I thought would never condone alcohol even in serious moderation.

Also, Gary, thanks for cutting to the chase and having Alex better explain the donation aspect of these wines… it took a lot of prodding.

That was a great show. I will definitely look for that wine, I wish more wineries incorporated philanthropy into their art.

QOTD: I forget what it was, but the wine my husband and I toasted with the night we got engaged- i dont’ remember what it was because it was after we toured 10 wineries on Keuka Lake, NY. πŸ™‚
