That was a great show. I will definitely look for that wine, I wish more wineries incorporated philanthropy into their art.

QOTD: I forget what it was, but the wine my husband and I toasted with the night we got engaged- i dont’ remember what it was because it was after we toured 10 wineries on Keuka Lake, NY. 🙂

Gary, excellent show! I think youâ??ve solved the problem. Having a guest is fun but can be awkward when they represent a wine you rate. So donâ??t rate it.

QOFD: Iâ??m thinking not so much a single occasion more of a time of life. I was in my early twenties, out of college, had a nice job, had some spending money, no social life, and still living at home. Friday and Saturday night diners with mom and dad were nice. My dad introduced me to wine, cheap California red jug wine. Weâ??d talk through many a Friday or Saturday night. The California wine industry was starting to gain some respect. I took the initiative and started bringing home some vintage cab and pinot noir. I remember my dad later complaining that I ruined him, he canâ??t drink the cheap stuff anymore. My life moved on, I moved out then got married. My dad died a few months after I got married. A lot of time has passed since then. I cherish the memories.

  • I was a huge fan of Two Brothers Big Tatoo Red; sold cases of it at the wine shop in Studio City. I always enjoyed telling the customers that it was not only a great bottle of wine, and a great value, but also telling them the story behind it. Fantastic to see Alex on the show!!!
QOTD: Best wine experience with a family member was last year, during a visit home, I took my mom and her mom (Grandma Brown!) to a winery in Maine and we tasted through the wines there together. This was the first time this happened, one because there aren’t too many wineries in Maine, and two because I wasn’t into wine when I lived at home (nor was it legal for me to be into it, either!!) And now it is something all three generations can connect about, and are passionate about. It was such a great time and a wonderful memory that I will always have.

Glad to know about Billington wines.
QOTD: Hard to say. Maybe a pinot noir wine tasting my husband and I went to where a friend brought out the Foxen Sea Smoke, Chasseur Sylvia’s Vineyard, Kosta Browne, Domaine Serene Evanstad Reserve, Beaux Freres Upper Terrace, Archery Summit Arcus Estate, and Shea EState Pinot Noir. Or maybe a Jordan wine dinner at the Old House in Santa Fe – it was just 4 courses (not too much) and everything was perfect – as always at the Old House. I guess we’ve had a lot of good wine experiences.

Wow! Top 50, but who really cares……..Having said that….real nice show. Alex and his brother have a nice thing going on. As he is from DC, I’m sure that I can find it in the Metro area, and will give it a try. QOTD? I need to think on that a bit. I’ll get back to you later.

    Great show, great story.

QOTD: Law school graduation. Had a 15 year old Guigal Hermitage that my dad had been saving for that purpose for about 5 years.

QOTD: Love the week that my older sister comes out to visit and we drink really good wine that I have paired with my really good meals. Gee, that sounds really egotistical. Oh well 🙂

Thanks for answering all the facebook q’s.

Great show! Time to find some Two Brothers.

Great show, GV… and thanks so much for the shoutout! This is a great platform for folks who are doing things the right way, and I am always happy to watch a show like this if it results in helping those in need.

QOTD: This weekend, my Tinche and I spent the evening watching the sunset over a bottle of spumante, all capped by an extraordinarily special event. Perfect…

QOTD- The best wine experience so far for me was trying my first 2000 Bordeaux on my 40th birthday with my wife and two great friends. After tasting a wine of that caliber it is hard to go back to $10 plonk.

My husband and I love to sit on our porch in the Sierras in the evening sipping a Malbec…tasting some fabulous Stilton or Gorgonzola. No bears allowed!

QOTD: My father was sent to Paris to work at the US Embassy for 4 years. The first summer he and my mom were there, I flew over for summer holiday from college. My dad and I went to the neighborhood wine store and bought a bottle of anything that struck our fancy. We picked up some baguettes and cheese and sausage and then went home and my parents, sisters and I had a wine tasting picnic in our dining room. We opened and tried every bottle, about 15 total. It was the best night, just hanging out with my family and trying wines that none of us had ever heard of before.

  • This is AWESOME! I lost my mom to breast cancer when I was very young so this is something that really speaks to me. I will try to get the wine but I may have to order it as I don’t see much distribution in AZ.

QOTD: My wedding was my best wine experience. I had bubbles I ordered from Wine Library and it was just a perfect night!!

At my wedding 10 years ago, as a present to my wife, I bought a 1990 vintage bottle of Dom Perignon to drink at our reception. After my wife and I drank some we passed it around and let everyone at the reception have a taste. Even today, I remember it well and we still have the empty bottle on our bookcase as a reminder of that glorious occasion.

  • QOTD: I host a little something called “back porch time”. A freind and I sit on the back porch with a bottle of wine and just chat, about anything that on our minds really. Recently in the last few months I have gotten my dad into wine and he is really enjoying it. He was here recently in Florida and we shared a Cab and a Malbec and some great convo. He recently wrote from NC expressing his desire to have mroe times like that. “Back Porch Time”. Love it!

Big ups to Alex and his bro…. I tried the the Big Tattoo Red for the first time about 2 months ago. Normally, I avoid Shiraz (or Shiraz-heavy blends) because it just has never worked for my ‘pal’ at all. But the local store had Big Tattoo Red on sale, I tried it on a whim (trying to suspend my dislike for Shiraz), and was VERY impressed by the quality. That was before I learned about the charitable donation. Now, I am recommending it to all my friends – and not just because it is doing a good thing, but also because it is a solid QPR wine. I’m a big fan, Alex. Thanks. I liked it so much, the very next day I went out and bought the Big Tattoo White (though I haven’t opened it yet).

And I can’t wait to try the Cab reserve too. KUDOS.

QOTD: anytime I get to see my brother. (He and I are the only family members who drink wine…. all the rest are Mormons)

QOTD: Having a bottle of Krug Grand Cuvee with my dad at Christmas a couple years ago. He’s a bit of a tightass and would never buy something like that himself, so I bought one and it really sung and he loved it. Awesome wine.

  • Yes, he spilled his wine. Good eye G-Man.

Great show from a great guy from DC!!! Hometown boy.

QOTD: Memorable wine experience with family member? Since 99% of my family does not drink I will succumb to Thanksgiving where I open some of my better Pinots for my brother-in-law who appreciates good wine.

I’ll be buying some of the Dos Bros.
