I pick up a couple Baumard Coteaux Du Layon Clos Ste. Catherine from wine library last year, I uncorked one last year with family from out of town and an apricot cheese cake. QPR is through the roof with a $40 dollar price tag on a 750ml bottle! Awesome.

Speaking of the book, my favorite quote is from a footnote for wine #46. â??The poop of herbivores is milder than that of carnivores, but should still be considered inedible.â? Boy, thereâ??s no tellinâ?? what trouble we poor, dumb Vayniacs might get into if we didnâ??t have Gary to advise us.

What everyone is forgetting, that “old man” led the packers to the playoffs last year. Also to multiple superbowls. He still sprains and breaks fingers in training camp if he doesn’t control his velocity on the throw. Say what you want, but Farve going to the jets is a good move. Maybe the Jets will have a decent season now.

I have never met a sauternes that I didn’t like. Can’t remember the name of the best I have had.

Your passion was evident in this show. I just wish these wines were more affordable. Oh well, just my luck.

Great show. I’ve had some really nice Sauternes, but only at tastings, and am looking forward to enjoying them at the end of a meal soon.

I have had a couple Sauternes but none worth mentioning. I think my budget might be too small to get high quality dessert wines at this point.

The BEST sauternes I ever had was Rieussec ’04, even better than Yquem ’96. Maybe the Yquem was not ready, I don’t know…

great show gary. you can’t beat a show with ultra great wines. i get all excited when i see bottles like cos, latour… etc on your table when i click on.
i almost bought the 05 cos, and now it is off the charts in price + i have a bottle of 2000 that i got for 1/2 of what the 05 is.
QOTD, even in france, people are nervous of sauternes. the french like balance in everything and sauternes for them is too sweet. not everyone, but a lot of them.
i spent a week in barsac last summer and got to taste quite a bit. it was hard to get appts at chateaux. anyhow, my favorite was a 95 coutet with some fois gras…..damn! i have a few bottles in my cellar of other stuff. sooo good… not for everyday though
