It’s a Sauternes and a Barsac. Even if it’s technically from Barsac, you can call it Sauternes (Check the label).

QOTD: Have not had any Sauternes so far, but got four bottles in the cellar (Château Saint-Amand, Château Guiraud and Château Rieussec). May be its time to try one…

So right on about sauternes. Still a great value in the wine world and my personal favorite to serve to those peeps who do not like dessert wines (“too sweet, too syrupy” etc.)

QOTD: ’03 Ch Lafaurie Peyraguey. Brought two bottles to a tasting
earlier this year and it killled it.

    Nice show and interesting choices.

QOTD: I have only had a couple of Sauternes, but I liked the Chateau Filhot that you recommended to me last year. This one sounds phenomenal!

QOTD: Love Sauternes whenever I’ve had them. Can’t remember the names of any. The last good one was in the secret packs WLTV put out earlier this year.

Change of atmosphere is really wonderful! I will probably never set foot in Chateau Doisy Vedrines, especially whatever room you’re in when you shot this, but seeing you there is the next best thing to being there. Thanks for being a wine show and travel channel all in one!
    Great show, as always.

    Hi Gary,

looking forward to the Thunder Cruise where I will be with my wife (celebrating our 25th Anniversary, her 50th Birthday, end of college tuition, and more!).

I like Sauterne a little bit, but for pure QPR Thunder, I will virtually always opt for Jurancon Moelleux. These sweet whites can be had for under $20 and are delicious. As you know, they are from Aquitaine which is a little south and east of the Sauterne region, but are terrific. I have purchased some Jurancon dry whites from Wine Library, but never seen the sweet varietal. Give them a shot.

    Love the show.

    Regards,
    Karl B.

I’m almost embarrassed to say that I’ve never had a Sauterne. The prices have always steered me away. I think I’ll start looking at some 375’s though. I hear they’re perfect.

  • Sweet show GV. It was quite fitting to see you taste those in Bordeaux!

QOTD: Never had one, but I’ve been kinda waiting till I’ve gone to France again. 🙂

Long time lurker lured out of the shadows here, not by the wine but just to say how much I am looking forward to a real-time recorded episode with Garyâ??s reaction to Favreâ??s arrival in NY. Gary, buddy, love the wine but when the press is throwing around comments like â??biggest star since Namathâ? or â??their most iconic player since the days of Joe Namathâ? â?? this is more important than wine… at least for today.

Nice digs…. of course there is nothing wrong with the regular set.

QOTD – I have not had Sauterne, we will have to see what can be done about that.

Good luck with the upgrade from Pennington, I guess you might need to get a new jersey for the wall although Brett does not strike me as a wine guy…

    Re: Bottle Shock…
I have a sneaking suspicion, aka published reviews, that this movie might be funnier AFTER consuming a bottle of Chateau Montelena…

Re: Sauternes, no, unfortunately not yet, but some excellent and affordable New Zealand dessert wines made from Sauv Blanc and of course some delicious Alois Kracher…

QOTD: Well I’ve never really been a fan of Sauternes, so I really do not have a favorite. I may need to try the 99 pointer from the show and see if I change my mind.

  • I have tried a few sauternes. I liked the 2004 Chais de Méribel. I taste the apricots and black pepper on the back of the toungue. 22 bones at your local Costo.

Found the book on books.com.tw!!! Love that they offer 7-11 pick-up.

QOTD – 4UALL: What recommendations for NT$2K from Atherton in Bordeaux, Cote Rotie and/or Chateauneuf du Pape? What happens when I go down to 1K?

Happy Father’s Day and vive la Taiwan libre.
