The Sforzato does sound fine. I enjoy Amarones and Ripassas. I’ve enjoyed the Zenato lately…good stuff.

Tonight I’m enjoying l’Ã?chanson from the Cahors region. Very Bordeaux like with dark flavors and good fruit.

My best new Italian? The 2004 Antinori Tignanello … wow!! Outstanding.

Might be tough to find something like the Sforzato here in PA. Know what I mean?

Beat Army?!!! I don’t think so. QOTD: With the hot summer weather here in AZ, I’ve been going through a lot of Prosecco, Maschio dei Cavalieri was one, good prices too, they’re just for fun fruity bubbles that go down great with just about anything.

  • Agree that Sfurzat is very underrated/unknown. I have only had 1 (therefore relatively unknown to me) from Nino Negri (Valt Sfurzat 5 stelle) which was outstanding and definitely up there with the best amarones, brunellos and barolos. They won wine of the year in Gambero Rosso a couple years back. Saving my 1999 for a couple more years.

QOTD: Sadly, no new Italian wines. The few we have are not supposed to be ready to drink yet. I am sipping a mimosa with leftover Gosset to console me.

QOTD – My friends took me to a winery called Ferruci last December in Italy that was southeast of Bologna. They had very good Sangiovese based wines.

Nice. Only tried it once, for some reason Nino Negri Inferno is easy to find out here in the stix. Interesting enough to make me get another bottle.

QOD: the Cipressi Macchiarossa Tintilia I’m drinking right now. Very different, interesting stuff.
