I’ve heard that Green Lion is great, I want to seek it out just to get a good look at the fun label too.

Great to see the cheese back on the table.

QOTD: Had a Vichon Merlot-Grenache last week that was bleh….

QOTD: Most recent disappoint was a bottle from a couple of nights ago, 2006 Zeni Teroldego Rotaliano. I’d read some interesting things, but I found it to be rather like drinking watered-down raspberry kool-aid. We had a glass with some not–so-great pizza. Meh. 🙁

    QOTD:

Tough question . . . Haven’t had any disappointing wines of late (lucky me!). However, most likely due to sub-optimal storage, I had what seemed to be a cooked 2003 Longoria Pinot about a couple months back. Color was brickish and it had lost all fruit. My own fault. Need to get myself a Vinoteque or something like it to store my wines.

    Good show, as always.

QOTD – Only one I have really not enjoyed Toad Hollow Sauvignon Blanc. Paso Robles is just too warm for this grape. Loved their unaoked Chardonnay.

  • I think that Brett did the right thing in hanging on longer with a different team. I mean, it worked great for Johnny Unitas as a Charger!

I’m sorry GV but Farve should have stayed retired.

  • Thank you for pronouncing his name properly: Favre. The “v” comes BEFORE the “r” folks!!!

holy crap Gary, you put waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much foie gras on that bread at once (think of it like caviar or pate’, you wouldn’t eat that much in a mouth full) i could see you totally regretted that lol!!! YO i just started fermenting 3 batches of plum wine, 2 of yellow Shiro plums, and 1 of red Elephant Heart plums, so your mission is to profile some plum fruit wines or brandies! DO IT. HARD.

    Favvvrray?!?

Great show Gary might want to paint spit bucket. Can see
wine swirling in bucket and what you just ate.

QOTD: Buying wine at Trader Joes A person recommended a Malbec, Merlot
blend for only $3.99 that was swill!! However, the $6.99 Italian Malbec they
sell was a gem, as good as some of the $30-40 Malbec’s I have
    tried. Live and learn.

QOTD: 2003 Lambert Bridge Petit Syrah. I thought it would age better than it has.

QOTD — Proshyan Royal Pomegranate; I wasn’t expecting to be thrilled, but I was really disappointed

dunno about football, or the wines that had some sort of football theme. i do know however know about some disappointing wines. i opened a bottle of roger brun NV rose champagne on my birthday over the weekend and it was “OK” it was delicate but did not deliver on the character and personality dept. i think especially champ. personality is so important.
it was not bad, it just had no pep

  • Garrick

QotD: No such thing as disappointing wine, it’s all good.

  • KVolk

qotd: nothing really stands out as a disappointment…..it’s all just trying new thinks…..

I have been watching Favre play in another green jersey for years, he will not disappoint like the wines in today’s show did. Go 4!

I think Favre just threw an interception on the way to the grocery store.
