anyhow, Fav cheese is Coleraine Cheddar (Irish)…Edam is always nice…is that banal.

This seems better than a screw cap, if for no other reason than the pop… never seen it and frankly had never heard of it before today… I don’t like the name at all…

QOTD : hmm – I can’t imagine it’s cheaper than a stelvin, but you never know – I don’t see any real advantage

  • QOTD: I’d kinduv like to give one a go now that I’ve seen how fun it is to remove. They’re right… ease of screwtop w/ satisfying POP of a cork. I’ve become a quick fan of screw tops, but still get nervous when gifting screw tops since they tend to be thought of as cheap.

Anyone remember the old Zork computer games?

Seems like a good idea, have never seen a bottle with it in place.

Time for the grand experiment i.e. decant some and make a short report about the wines as an add on to a future episode. Also put a couple of bottles in your cellar and open one in 1 yr, then 2yr,and then 3yr and tell us what happens. To me it sure beats cooking the botle on the roof!

Good show and an interesting product. Shall keep my eyes open for it when shopping—- Thanks for the Heads Up

QOTD: I think the zork is a great idea to move us all away from cork eventually. It may take a while to catch on. I’ve never yet encountered a zork on any of my wine purchases, but I’m glad I’ve seen GV use the zork. Now I don’t have to fiddle with it.

  • Interesting concept. Would love to know test info regarding storage time.
Beginning to think using the helmet spit bucket is bad mojo for our Jets.

QOTD: Being from Australia I have seen many Zorks. In fact, my father used Zorks for one of his recent batches of wine. Can’t remember what varietals or the vintage, have to get back to you on that one.

It would appear that the “Zork” is just a gimmicky way to sell crappy wine. I don’t care how the juice is bottled and capped – it’s the juice that matters. I have yet to see or use a Zork. I won’t be seeking them out, however.

Regarding your comments on the Red Knot, how can you have bitter and good mouth feel?

From a tasting room guy and winery assistant.

  • GV – fun stuff. QOTD – Novel at best – I do like the action of removing it vs. the mechanical action of a screwtop. Elevates the experience a bit and really, isn’t that what we’re looking for?! The prob. is those little tabs afterward that create waste, cats chew on them, baby’s put them in their mouths, etc. Bah!

This is the first time I’ve heard of a Zork. It’s going to be a real battle displacing reak corks. Good luck!

We actually had the Red Knot this weekend, my first reaction was to the Zork Closure. The simplicity was wonderful and the POP sound made me smile, I’m fine with the Zork on most my wines but on a few “better” bottles I want what’s been tried and mostly true. As for the wine itself, some in our group like this wine the best and 2 of the bottles where way out of the “Knots” price range. We did let all the wines open for about 2 hours… I will give it another try….

QOTD – never used a Zork, makes me think of the the classic text computer game with the same name. Anyway, looks fine to me. I really don’t care what keeps my wine fresh, as long as it works.

I have no problems with the Zork. It solves the problem of the “pop” that many were complaining of.

QTD – Yes. I received a bottle that had one this weekend. No problems with it – it was fine.

  • QOTD: I’ve never used the Zork, but I am very interested in it. I am not a big fan of traditional cork because of the chance of it ruining the wine. Hopefully this will satisfy the cork snobs out there that hate the screwtop. I personally have no problem with the screwtop at all, but then again I don’t really know any better either.
