line of the day – ‘there’s a million rules [in wine], and they’re all wrong’

Always difficult for a guest with very little knowledge of wine to come on and not make a fool of themselves, but this one did okay by being honest and not agreeing with everything gary said.

One comment from Gary made me laugh. he said he swirls all liquids in his mouth, ‘water, milk, everything’. I’ve found myself doing the same, and in fact, I can’t drink anything without swirling. Makes you appear a weirdo, but it’s fun

    Good show and great wines.

QOTD – I just hope my Texas Rangers get there first.

  • John Farrin

Oh, I see how it is. Tara watches occasionally and gets a co-host gig but I who watch AND comment every day can’t get arrested 🙂

QOTD: Sure, if MLB shortens the season to 120 games 🙂

GV – I checked out some of her shows and think you translate better on WLTV. It just seems a little “disjointed” watching you in someone else’s format. For example, I think it was awesome seeing your pop made an appearance in this episode – the warmth, family (Mott, etc.) and interrelation found on WLTV is somewhat lost in other formats…and that’s one of the key things that draws me to WLTV. Just food for thought, in terms of building a wider fan base. Just my opinion (meant as positive criticism)- believe me, I’d LOVE for you to replace Oprah. Good episode!!

  • Inspiring me to buy both of the last two wines. Great episode but I have no idea or really care if the Mets make the playoffs. Wish I weren’t on the road for the secret pack every time.

    Bravo,
What a great guest show. You really did well with the back and forth this time. I can tell she is someone you have worked with before. This episode had everything I love about WLTV. Thank You.

QOTD: I have no opinion concerning the Mets.

    Loved the guest.

QOTD: Tentively yes, but only if they bring in Fuentes (Rockies) + 1 to 2 other relievers, Lowe (Dodgers), and an outfielder to complete the team. I really like Manuel, he’s worlds better than Willie and has a great record since taking over the team and if he had been at the helm all year they would be in the playoffs. Plus the Phils were 7 out of 18 against us, so I think that talks for itself.

Topanga really does a great job. I’m a big fan of their stuff. The Pecorino looks very interesting. Pairing note Pecorino and Pecorino??

    QOTD: N.A.C.I.H.

  • haha… how come your dad always crashes the show when there’s an attractive woman on? He did this last time. Probably just walks by and wants to check things out a bit closer…

    Pecorino sounds good!

QOTD: Of course the Mets won’t make it to the world series. Oh, and who is Jerry Manual?

  • I always thought pecorino was cheese! And I love that cheese! I wonder how pecorino would go with pecorino? Hmmmmmm…..

Sounds like a couple of killer whites! I gotta find me some.

Oh – Gary – Celadon is pronounced “Sell-a-don”… just thought you would want to know. And it is Horse Heaven Hills, not Horse Haven Hills (Columbia Valley AVA). I should have been an English teacher… It is fun to watch you when you are so jacked up like today’s show. Groovy stuff!

QOTD – I have no idea. I am still lamenting how badly the Mariners sucked blue stones this year….

    Peace!

    interesting episode:

1: A co-host who’s afraid to fall out of character and say something wrong.
2: Some father/son love with a litte kiss
3: Finally seeing MOTT and then noticing there is a girl behind him 😮

I am not that into white wines, but the Pecorino sounds like something I need to try. I think I prefer red wines because I also prefer the red or dark fruits. Give me plums, berries, cherries all the way. Tropical fruits, apple pears, bananas not so much, they are just OK.

QOTD. Mets? heck we haven’t finished this season yet.

Gary be wary of the Bills!!!!!! Yes I’m originally from Orchard Park. Been gone for decades, but still a fan.

Nice show. Tara did a good job……..clearly not a hob-snob when it comes to wine knowledge, but asked great questions, and knows whats she likes.
My kind of show. Price points in my area.
However, qotd?…………..baseball puts me to sleep, and,
    Jerry who?

I think the Cubs are America’s team thanks to WGN TV. Unless you live on the east coast, I think most people like to see you guys go down. The dream World Series would be a city series with the hapless Cubbies vs. the White Sox. Enough sports already; how about a spinoff segment called Sasha’s corner with just pops and guest. He’s a riot!
    Smell it first.

After watching this show, I had to raid my cellar to find a white to drink. Ended up with a 2005 Wwe. Dr. H. Thanisch (Erben Müller-Burggraef) Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese which went very nicely with my dinner standing up at the sink.

QOTD: Sports? Totally the wrong person to ask.

    Good show nonetheless.

QOTD: A SF Giants fan to the core – I can’t claim to know jack about the Mets other than they did a big chockeroo this year. Next year? Not a clue.

    Liked the show.

Great show. Nice to see you guys just chillin’. Even Sasha made an appearance.

Unfortunately, I know nothing about baseball. May the best man win…

  • brorjace

Considering the Phils are in the Mets division, no. I can’t forsee the balance changing in the Central either, so the Mets only hope is to squeek in the Wild Card spot.

QOTD: As an Astro’s fan the only response is NO,NO,NO,NO,NO,NO,NO,NO, and lastly NO…….and you would have never beaten Mike Scott……

Thanks for the new white wine varietals…..expanding the palate……
