QOTD – well, from a wine lovers perspective, I would love to own a small/med vineyard and be the business manager.

Such an enjoyable episode…I’m glad to see that Kristen is so passionate about her wine and what she is doing and how she is following her dream!!!!
    I’m thankful for //!

QOTD: I would love to work at Winelibrary. Its nice to dream…I will totally settle for just educating people about wine..in any format in any context at any time…I’m working on accomplishing it one day at a time!!!

    Gary –

Though I’m typically not a big fan of the guest episodes, I thought this one brought the Thunder! Great job by Kristen and yourself (and let’s not forget the Mott-ster!).
I felt that Kristen brought very good knowledge, and a great level of enthusiasm to the show. I had the feeling that this time you actually gave us your honest feelings about the wines tasted even though Kristen had a direct attachment to the wines.
    Fun, informative show.

QOTD: Restaurant cook/chef – I’m sure it’s very hard work, but I’d still like to try it for a day just to experience how difficult and rewarding it actually is.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving to all of you at the WineLib and all the Vayniacs out there!

Fronsac! Great job Kristin and Gary! At a younger age, in the time before my palate was ready to understand Bordeaux, I’d found Fronsac to be typically tight, but found that the perfumed scents of the wine are a great deal of what this is all about.

Several years ago, I saw the last bottle in a store of Michel Rolland’s Chat. Fontenil ’98, and still priced at $25! I knew that after the recent succession of vintages, that kind of price would never be seen again. Held it for a few years (among a home par of less than two cases of various gems), but was forced to enjoy it in late 2006, for a dinner for friends. Man, it’s not my nature to be a hoarder, but I didn’t want to let go, cause the next bottle would surely cost closer to $50. At eight years, that wine had just enough time to point what it would be able to do with even more time. It drank gorgeously with strip steaks, and I was really happy to share something special.

Thank you both for another great episode.
A dream job for me might be a sommelier at a fancy restaurant on the day of a high-end wine dinner.

Having kept wine, woman, and song as something of the themes of life, and lucky to have worked with very good food and wine, and played music from Seattle to Finland, basically, I’ve been fortunate to have subscribed to the Joseph Campbell creedo “Follow your Bliss”. While I’ve certainly enjoyed much of my work, and though I’m far from rich, and it troubles me not that I probably will never be, when I dream, it is definately not about a job. But in the spirit of knowing that in the world, there IS much work that needs to be done, I’d be head prosecutor in the trial for Treason of W and those other criminals on the hill.

And Kristin, I hope you get to Denmark. It is unforgetably amazing, from the kindness of the people to the architecture of cities that are over 100 years old.

Fun show, Thanks GV and Kristin!

QOTD: I’d like to be a novelist or screenplay author. I really enjoy the art of writing and love movies as well. Then I’d retire to my own vinyard where I would serve wine and socialize with its visitors. And my wife and I could sip wine together till the end of time!

    Priceless!

  • If I could work one day in my dream job I would definitely be a chef. Anthony Bourdain style! Oh, Gary you should try to get him on the show. That would be epic! Also, I agree with the Vayniacs, you are getting the magic back.

  • What an awesome guest! I love the fact that she’s NOT a VIP. I mean no offense to those who’ve invested years of their lives into wine. Props to them for devotion and expertise. HOWEVER! (Waves hand at camera a la Gary V.) Having another “normal” person’s thoughts heard is far more interesting to me, personally.

QOTD: For one day, I’d have to go with professional jazz/swing singer. But for long-term, I’m doing it. Three cheers for being with 38 Studios.
