QOTD-I’ve bought about 12-14 different ones from price range of 20-80.
Especially looking forward to trying Monbousquet (btw if u can get the 2000-do it!!) and Lascombes….

QOTD: I have not yet purchased any of the 2005 Bordeaux – economic climate has forced me to give up on most luxury items like wine.

As usual Gary does a very fine job in blind tastings – where his palette is pushed a bit harder than usual. The La Clemence sounds like a winner too, and at $80 is not bad at all for a great wine from there.

QOTD – Chateaux Bahans-Haut-Brion, Nenin & Guiraud. Also a very nice surprise, Ch. Pezac from Entre-Deux-Mers, a good sleeper.

  • I have not had the privelege of tasting a ton of ’05 Bordeaux but I did stumble on a very nice gem for only $15.00. Chareau Paradis Casseuil Domaines Barons DE Rothschild (Lafite). What an amazing wine for the price. Dusty fruit on the nose with wet leather, some dark cherry currant maybe. Wet leather and fruit on palate, finish wasn’t great but acceptable. Great wine for under twenty bucks if you love the old world style.

keep the blind tastings coming – i think a couple double-blind episodes are necessary too.

2005 bordeaux – haven’t bought anything noteworthy yet.

Nice show.. need to find some La Clemence…

All that I have bought of 2005 is a case of Chateau La Pointe from Pomerol… got an early 90s vintage on a whim from Trader Joe’s years ago and loved it… My wife and I visited the Chateau on our trip to France in 2001… nice small production, family owned… and like you say.. LOVE THE MERLOT!

I am a newcomer to wines and to The Thunder Show and it is absolutely fantastic. I am addicted to these episodes and have watched tons in the last 5 days. Love the blind tasting. I have not yet purchased any Bordeaux, but I plan to very soon.

Keep up the great work and I will do what I can to spread the Thunder.

    Many thanks for your insights.

  • Roberto (rarojas)

loved the show, as usual, love right bank and Cab Fr. so getting a case of this, ONLY based on this show!!!! hope I’m doing the right thing, I trust your palate as it is so similiar to mine.

QOTD: Cos D’Estournel, always undervalued, in my humble opinion. Also La Mission Haut Brion, and bought a whole bunch of second wines from the top names, which I think is a great play.

    Salud!

QOTD- Too expensive and might smell like poop.
Two good reasons to stay away from Bordeaux.

Love the blind shows- you are killing on the prices!

Love the blind episodes, there’s not bull, just your opinion and then the reveal. I’ve seen you rip some great wines apart based on your palette, and I wonder if it would have happened the same way if not blind. Keep it real and keep it blind.

QOTD: Unfortunately, I have not picked up an ’05 Bordeaux yet. Just getting into trying different wines, but will be trying one in the future.

    Love the blind tasting.

Gary, gotta let up on the Mottster about Plaxico! His G-men may be repeating!!

Really enjoy the blind tasting shows.

I got caught up a bit on the 05 Bordeaux thing this year.
I feel any wine collection has to have a couple of classed growths from this
vintage so I blew a whole two week paycheck just to get the Palmer and Ducru-Beaucaillou.

2 x 2005 Château Bonnet Bordeaux Contrôlée Reserve
    1 x 2005 Calvet Reserve
    1 x 2005 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou
    1 x 2005 Château Jean de Gue
    2 x 2003 Château La Gorce
    2 x 2005 Château le Bergey Cuvée Prestige .
    1 x 2005 Château Palmer
    1 x 2005 Château de Parenchère
1 x 2005 Château Pey La Tour Réserve du Château
    1 x 2005 Château Peychaud

QOTD: Chateau de Caillac, chateau poutett, chateau de cardinale or le cardinale? a few other of your recommendations–can’t remember all of them. Possibly a Margaux amongst them. I didn’t buy any more than 3 or 4 bottles of one producer–didn’t purchase case lots.

Almost forgot. Great job on the CBS Early Show. Too short a segment. Maybe they’ll wise up and give you more time on your next appearance. Harry seemed to enjoy himself. Jackie Johnson, the weather-girl substitute, mentioned she wanted to join in on the wine spot. Hope to see more of you on the major networks.

QOTD- 05 Cos D’Estournal. Had it at a tasting and had to buy it, I remembered this wine from your vid and your book. Truly out of this world. I’m sure this wine will only get better with time and a wine to have for that very special moment.
