My advice… get involved. Be there for your little one. Restrict access to the TV and gaming systems for at least 2 years (at minimum, prevent them from the bombardment of advertisements and only let them watch pre-approved recorded video).

Listen to your little one. They can communicate without speech. Watch their expressions. Pay attention. Enjoy every moment.

QOTD: Don’t read any pregnancy/infancy books. They will drive you nuts learning about all the things that could go wrong. Our parents and grandparents did this whole baby thing without obsessing over it and we turned out okay.

Okay, finished watching the episode. Good show, but completely overshadowed by the announcement of your impending life-changing event . . . and justly so!

QOTD: Diaper changing (I fully expect you are going to do your part as a good father!) – now don’t take this wrong! but they (babies) aren’t as fragile as you think they might be . . . when changing a diaper quickly and without undue stress to you and the baby, use a firm (not tight) grip to hold and maneuver the little one during the process.

Kudos to you and Lizzy for the new heartbeat in your home! Congratulations are in order and thanks for sharing with us. My advice would be to catch up on sleepZzzzzs now/anytime you can grab some and ramp up that keen sense of humor you have. You will need both!

Congrats! My advise would be to enjoy your time with your family, work 10 hours less a week, and remember that both you & Lizzy will need your time out on your own. Make time for a “date night” (you don’t have to drink the wine)…but do get your alone time out on the town once a week.
