Michael, you’ve lived in East Brunswick, NJ???? No way!!! I’m from EB too! Small world.

I will definitely try to make it out to your restaurant next time I’m in Boston. Looks like an amazing place!

QOTD: Last time I visited Boston was a very quick trip and didn’t go out to a great restaurant for food. Went to faniel hall for some quick bites and that’s it.

Amazing show Gary, please do more like this – except – without it being goobed-up by bad sound: three words for when you’re traveling around and going quick setups:

    Portable Shotgun Microphone !!!!

I don’t mean anything crazy either – nothing on the end of a pole with a fur wind filter required – ‘frinstance, this little puppy would’ve improved things here drastically:

Sennheiser MKE 400 Compact Video Camera Shotgun Microphone

Cost you a few hundred bones – but it’ll make doing shows like this one much more satisfying on the audience.

My apologies if you actually have a little guy like that but it just wasn’t switched on.

Great Stories, loved that Flemington was dropped, remember the fairgrounds that’s now a Lowes? Too funny.

QOTD: Black Rose. Although it is a bar…but in the bar is a poem “Roisin Dubh” Named our daughter Roisin because we went to the bar when we were dating. Ahhhh Memories.

Gary, I tried to link up the the keynote speech at Affiliate Summit but I was unable to view it. I hope you link up the video or a copy of the speech. I’d love to hear it.

Great job by two guys at the top of their game!

As a life long resident of Boston, I have had the pleasure of following Michael all along his journey here in our great city. I was working at the venerable Louis, Boston when he came to take over their Cafe. I was hooked and it hasn’t stopped since.

Although my favorite spot in Boston is not a Schlow establishment(Jody Adam’s No.9 Park takes that title)I know that after a long trip away from home, whenever I return, a visit to one of Michael’s places really hits the spot!

Thanks for the great WLTV GV!!

I enjoyed that one. Nice to get a chef’s perspective on the wine.

QOTD: Via Matta does have a special place in my heart because it was where I celebrated my 19th birthday with my whole family, but not my favorite. Gonna go with either Mistral, L’Espalier, or Grill 23 if I’m in the mood for beef.

I was in Boston for the Wine Expo 05.
Sister lives there.(If you can call that living)
We had so much fun. Smith & Wollensky was new & happening that yr.
Zraly was at the next tbl w/ a bunch of prominent wine folks including many of the seminar speakers.
I was a newbie to the sommelier scene so it was great.
We went to some Italian place on the north side. Good stuff.
BUT…THE GRILLED SAUSAGE AT FENWAY THE SUMMER B4 WAS THE BEST!!!!!!!

    Really loved the guest.
I started as a dishwasher at my stepfather’s place. (hand-scrubbing pots).
So, I really get what Michael is saying. You could not get a waiter job in fine dining so easy as it is now.

I’m glad I had to do it the way I did. I do have some youngster w/ great work ethic though.
But, you do also see alot of 20-somethings that believe $250-$300 a shift is their god-given right. Four hours for anything less is a waste of their time.
