Fairly Good Episode! Not much of a frozen food lover myself. But still a Bordeaux? Great wine and good company! Love it!

QOTD1: Don’t ever eat frozen pizza
QOTD2: Frozen shrimp, easy to prepare and you can put them in anything.

  • More love for the food & wine pairings, thanks Gary! It’s important that everybody tries different types of wine with all different types of food (it doesn’t always have to be about wine & cheese). 🙂

QOTD 1: Gotta go with DiGiorno
QOTD 2: Nob Hill 5-cheese ravioli

    LURKER ALERT!

Gary: Visited the store this week and LOVED it! Staff is kickass and the store is great fun and beautiful! Walked away with a case of wine from Portugal. Keep up the great work and now I’m no longer a Lurker 🙂

  • not my favorite episode. While I always beg to see more wine and food pairings, this isn’t what I had in mind. Maybe you should come to Connecticut and we can do a show on Wooster Street in new haven, pair wine and sally’s and pepe’s pizza.. think about it Gary, we are the pizza capitol of the world!!

I have to admit that at the begining of the show when Mr. Ng talked about not being into wine and the Asian thing I’m going, “Jesus Gary, this is going to be SUPER GEEK CITY.” Actually, a pretty entertaining show.

QOTD I:Don’t really have a fav. Don’t eat them very often. When I get a pizza craving (once or twice a year) I want the real thing.

QOTD II: Guilty pleasure are probably Totino’s Coimbination Pizza rolls.

  • FUN guest and show! Although, I don’t hardly eat any frozen meals or pizza, I will occasionally eat a Kashi pizza. Any others are way too unhealthy.

My favorite frozen food besides ice cream (I have to indulge somewhere) is the McCain sweet potato french fries.

QOTD1 : I honestly like the Red Baron frozen pizza, but cook it differently than the directions. I pop it straight on the oven rack at 400 for about 12 minutes then broil it on high for about 3 minutes. That way I get a good crispy crust on the bottom, and sizzling cheese on top. I also spruce it up a bit with veggies, etc… If you follow the directions on the box, it is kind of .. eh.

QOTD2 : I barely ever eat frozen food, but occasionally I get an unstoppable hankering for Marie Callender’s Turkey Pot Pies. They are so damn good!!!

I’ve been trying to get into Zin, but haven’t found one I’m in love with. Cool new feature on cellatracker lets you tweet out your wine review 🙂

QOTD: Don’t really eat frozen food, but I recall eating a Di Giorno hawaiian that was decent

I liked this episode a hole lot!!!!!

Note: Vaynerchuk takes big bites and chews like he tastes wine. Like he move the food all around. I think he does it so he can get the full taste just like with the wine. Thank God he doesn’t spit the food out.

    QOTD #1 Brick oven Freschetta

QOTD #2 Smucker’s Uncrustables. For real those damn frozen PB and J’s. I get box at the store then come home not even put them back in the freezer. let them thaw out and eat all four of them by the end of the night.

QOTD1: Stouffer’s French Bread Pepperoni Pizza
QOTD2: Boston Market Swedish Meatballs and noodles.

Hey Gary, what’s up with picking 3 bottles over $25 to pair with $3 meals? Sounds like a rare person that would actually do that.

ELIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOS!!!! All the way man! No doubt, Elio’s Pizza scores MAJOR nostalgia points in my books. It’s the kind of pizza only a kid could like, and even with our more “refined” (there go the “quotes” again) adult palates, we need to look back once in a while at the things that made us run home after school for a snack.

And, I guess the other frozen food would be these Kosher Chicken Nuggets that my mom used to buy when I was a 10, and they actually tasted like chicken! OR the famous chicken nugets shaped like dinosaurs.

I can’t wait for the White Castle episode!!! Great show, awesome guest.

I liked this episode, especially since being a CKC I think I’ve tried all of those! But Gary, you should have picked $8-15 wines for el cheapo frozen foods rather than the $25-30! Love the guy who posted the Jim Gaffigan Hot Pocket skit!

QOTD Greg: I love the personal sized $1 Tony’s pepperoni, or for a larger size the DiGiorno rising crust pepperoni
QOTD Gary: Boston Market’s mac ‘n cheese- it almost beats Kraft!

Costco’s frozen toquitos. In college I was broke as F__K and ate those cuz you could get 3000 for like 10 bucks.
Tombstone pizzas were my go to in high school.

Call me Crazy. For some reason I think it is a cool thing when you & the guest sip (give it a whirl) and gargle/swish/contemplate/no talk. Whatever. That is what this show is about to me. Exploring the wine world.

Greg — Why do frozen foods all have GARLIC. Has to be 100% or very high 99%.
I have never seen a frozen food product that does NOT list garlic as an ingredient.
SOY. That’s another ingredient that has to be high % for “healthy” products.

QOTD: None of them are any good. Amy’s cheese and tomato sauce is an OK snack.

  • Another great episode, have you started to bleep out Gary’s swearing? I heard a funny noise towards the end. 🙂

I can’t really answer the QOTD as the frozen food range is so different in the UK than it would be in the US.
