Fairly Good Episode! Not much of a frozen food lover myself. But still a Bordeaux? Great wine and good company! Love it!

Enjoyable show … glad you chose to do it.
Greg – Glad your following your dream, but keep an eye on your health. While I am in no way fit and healthy, I realize that heavy frozen food consumption is not the best for you.

Regarding the wines, I would have chosen more simplier wines. $25 wines possibly contain too much complexity for these dishes. Maybe throw one in as a test, to see how it could stand up to the food but I would have kept the others to the $10 range.

Overall though, I’m very glad you had this show. Very unique. Funny situations.

QTD – I have not found a favorite in frozen food pizzas.
QTD #2 – Probably Trader Joe’s Madarin Chicken – comes out crispy from the oven with good taste. I mix in fresh broccoli, serve with rice, maybe TJ potstickers – yum, a decent meal.

QOTD::: Ellio’s pizza…not because its the best, but more for the childhood memories related to it.. growing up in South Jersey, on those hot summer days, low to middle income blue collar workers trying to get by eating cardboard and tomato sauce.

    Good Show.

QOTD1: Not a big frozen pizza fan. I grew up on Tombstone pepperoni, so I guess that would be my favorite.

QOTD2: Ham & Cheese Hot Pockets. I agree with your view on the Hot Pocket situation.

In America, everyone’s got a freezer above/ next to fridge. Not so in other countries. That said, since you’re paying for the energy, best efficiency is to exploit that for more than just ice cubes.

As a foodie type, w/ years in fine food and wine industries, I’m not into the frozen/prepared food isles very much. And they package all that stuff so purty…(shiny object syndrome. TM). I’m very against industrial overuse of monocultures like corn and soy, WAY overprocessed into every single thing they make,(hi-fruc corn syr, etc.) not to mention the chemicals and preservatives. There comes a point when it’s more soylent green than food.

Yet I find many uses for highly perishable FRESH food items –
Save lots of money at the distressed (outgoing) produce rack. Greens, vegetables, and fruits can be cored, or peeled, and wrapped for later use as sides, for soups, stews, smoothies(!), sauces, jams, compotes, preserves…
I cook full 1lb. bag of dry beans/legumes, drain, and portion them out into four containers = about four cans of beans, and no preservatives,1/4 the cost.

I occasionally do buy frozen items, such as frozen peas (way versatile), or pastas such as tortellini, ravioli, or gnocci. No frozen pizza.

QOTD: Tree Tavern for old time’s sake, but I also like the thin crust variety of Freschetta 5-cheese. Kashi made a good margherita pizza. I remember liking California Pizza Kitchen but it’s been a few years since I’ve had that one.

QOTD: Frozen Pizza is #1. Swanson Fried Chicken dinner is #2–unfortunately, must stay away from most of this kind of food.

  • I licked my aluminum baseball bat too. I said yes during the episode and my wife looked at me like I’m the weirdest guy ever. Then she looked at Gary the same way. Anyway, at least I know what an aluminum baseball bat tastes like.

  • Nice work Ng.

I used to know an Ng. His nickname was vowel. Since he didn’t have a vowel in his last name his friends thought that it would be nice to give him the nickname vowel.

    Cheers!
