Fairly Good Episode! Not much of a frozen food lover myself. But still a Bordeaux? Great wine and good company! Love it!

QOTD1: Mikes thin crust pepperoni and cheese. Classic.

QOTD2: PC Green Curry Shrimp Stirfry. I am in Canada and the PC brand is the local Loblaws store brand, but often their stuff is better than national brands.

  • You must have been pretty hungry.

QOTD: The classic Hungry Man (in aluminum) including Salisbury Steak, corn and the mini chocolate cake (the cake never came out in one piece, it always stuck to the bottom and broke).

  • Gary,
Great episode! You could tell your guest was just a little intimidated. You had a great chance to show how two palates could be totally different but correct and I believe you missed a golden opportunity. The Gewurztraminer was that chance. He did not like it that much and you loved it. What a chance to show how score does not matter, how individual palate is so important! Great to you and not to him. Maybe two different scores would have been nice. Who was right? You both were. You also did not spend as much time as I would have hoped on how the wine went with the frozen dinners. However, you did great with the Hot Pockets. Overall I loved the episode. I am a big fan and you have a great palate. Keep it up Gary!!!

QOTD: Any Chicken Pot Pie Brand but it has to be the kind you you can make in the oven so the crust comes out flaky not all soggy like some types are when you nuke them.

Great show Gary I’m 41 and most of my bachelor days were frozen meals with wine or beer. Damn I miss those days with all the crazy women…

Great episode, QOTD 1: Red Baron pepperoni pizza ALL THE WAY! And pizza is definitely my favorite frozen food. Takes less time to make than ordering, and you have just as good, if not better pizza.

I think I’ll try the Porter Bass Zin and see how it pairs with the Red Baron.

A couple of thoughts – 1) for the food pairings, maybe it would make sense to first taste the wine, then the food, then the combo? Otherwise how can you really objectively eval the wine with a mouth half full of veggies & sauce? 2) Give the guests who have something to say their own time to shine

QOTD: sharons sorbets (i’m lactosely challenged), stouffers french bread pizza (nostalgia) and these fancy organic french fries in a white bag – so delish.

Pretty cool show. Laid back guest. Ouch, puking up 8,000 calories is pretty nasty.

QOTD – Favorite frozen pizza – Digiorno. Favorite frozen food – Mrs Budd’s Chicken Pot Pie.

  • Interesting show. Personally, don’t see how a Frozen Food show will do but Im sure there are people that doubted wine tasting as well… and look at you.
QOTD #1 Favorite pizza is Totino’s. Its not microwavable though.
QOTD #2 Favorite frozen food that is microwavable is the Hot Pocket. Regular frozen and not microwavable is Stouffer Lasagna.

  • This guest episode stood out because your guest was reviewing too. I liked how both the food and wine were being reviewed.

QOTD1: its been a LONG time, but I remember requesting Tombstone when I was a kid (like 12). I’m guessing that now I’d choose something like California Pizza Kitchen or something, but I remember the pepperoni that looked like little suction cups.
QOTD2: Another nolstalgic one, sorry I dont too much frozen food anymore. BUt when I was in England I used to get Tesco’s brand shepards pie, cottage pie and I dunno all kinds of stuff a California girl had never heard of. Also all the frozen Indian food was awesome.

And speaking of Puking up thousands of calories, That guy Adam(?) on the show “Man VS. Food” is a f’ing pig. What is his problem?

QOTD: Favorite frozen food period…there is a cranberry & Brie in filo dough thing that is awesome…I have no clue who makes them.

I love frozen Uno’s Pizza. The whole chunks of tomato and the buttery cheese and crust. I like to drink Casa Larga Meritage from upstate NY with Pizza. Surprisingly good wine for NY. Worth a try I tell you but that is my taste.

Love the show Gary, but not impressed with this concept. What’s next: canned food? Military rations? Powdered food? You don’t need these gimmick guests to keep the thunder rolling.

    QOTD: Red Baron…no contest.

I actually like the premise of the show, but I have a big problem pairing wines over 20 bones to food that’s under 5. It’s kindof like putting a hubcap on a tractor.

    IT JUST DON’T FIT GARY!!!

If I was eating frozen food of the 4 for $10 variety, I would probably pick up something from Chateau Ste Michelle or Columbia Crest. It’s not that hard to get a drinkable food pairing wine for around (or even under) 10 bucks.

    Spin on….

  • wrc105

    Favorite pizza: Wegmans rising crust.
As a kid: mini meatballs with mashed potatoes. Now: it’s a toss up between Ivan’s chicken pot pie or Wegman’s frozen veggie lasagne.
