Fairly Good Episode! Not much of a frozen food lover myself. But still a Bordeaux? Great wine and good company! Love it!

    QOTD: Red Baron…no contest.

I actually like the premise of the show, but I have a big problem pairing wines over 20 bones to food that’s under 5. It’s kindof like putting a hubcap on a tractor.

    IT JUST DON’T FIT GARY!!!

If I was eating frozen food of the 4 for $10 variety, I would probably pick up something from Chateau Ste Michelle or Columbia Crest. It’s not that hard to get a drinkable food pairing wine for around (or even under) 10 bucks.

    Spin on….

    Favorite pizza: Wegmans rising crust.
As a kid: mini meatballs with mashed potatoes. Now: it’s a toss up between Ivan’s chicken pot pie or Wegman’s frozen veggie lasagne.

  • Hi Everyone, thanks for the great answers and for the (mostly) favorable response. I certainly enjoyed being a guest.

As for Mike in Wisconsin, Remember, just because I review Frozen food does not mean thats all I eat. In fact, I am a pretty decent cook and so is my wife. My reviews are taped after dinner and most (the Thanksgiving Frodown episode was an unfortunate “live and learn” event) never really consist of more than a few bites to gauge the quality of the product. So, no, I do not want to die early! LOL

    Hahah that quack-ing of Gary’s “bullsh*t” is a first, isn’t it?

Cool show. Checking out Greg’s site now.

QOTD: Red Baron and Tombstone were my favorites back in the day.

    frozen pizza: CPK baby!
frozen food: frozen tater tots, I’m a complete sucker for those little buggers. My college roommate had a wok. I kept it, and it’s a perfect device to put a little bit of pepper, some cayenne and salt. Then dump in the freshly prepared tots and toss them around in the wok. Perfect every time!

I don’t eat microwavable food Mr. Gary V, it’s just not my thing. I mean the only frozen pizza I’ll even attempt to eat is a home run inn. (I live in Chicago so you understand.) However I did buy a bottle of the Gewurtztraminer today and cracked it open. It’s not bad, I actually did enjoy it. I may go buy another bottle or two for a night in the future with my baby girl when you just feeling a small german white.

Frozen pizza is a staple in my kitchen, even though I eat a lot more fresh food than frozen. There are so many good ones to choose from, if you look beyond the most common supermarket varieties. Wolfgang Puck, California Pizza Kitchen thin-crust, Amy’s, and DiGiorno’s are my favorites. Trader Joe’s carries some really good Italian pizzas with hand-tossed crusts.

    QOTD 2: Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.

A pairing with Hot Pockets! I can’t hear that without thinking of Jim Gaffigan. I’m not a fan of much frozen food. Tastes are just too bland for me and I don’t like any frozen pizza.

I’m a major foodie, have never tried a frozen pizza but will admit to having a bag of Trader Joe’s Orange Chicken in the freezer for a rainy day. Not to slam the frozen food guy but people would be better off if they prepared fresh meals: they’re more nutritious, lower in sodium and cheaper. Granted you have to have the time and passion but the reward is far greater. Truthfully whenever I pop that TJ’s Chicken in the oven the inner foodie in me thinks I copped out for the evening.

    Interesting…

Poor Gary must have had a little heartburn from that combo. Especially the peperoni on top. Boy better not send Gary to the market on an empty stomach. Ha

Ice cream and Pizza. Smaller label not national brands.

I checked out Mr. Ng’s website and watched the turkey dinner episode, well part of it. A little rough around the edges but watchable.

In this new age of “pick a blog any blog” there are some things people watch that many don’t. I actually only follow this blog and I started by accident.

Food I can cook and while I use frozen sometimes I prefer fresh stuff. Wine on the other hand I can’t make. I enjoy learning new things about and trying new wines and have found some that I like from watching the “Thunder Show”. I think I pretty much know my limits on frozen foods and I take the less is better type approach. With wine there are no limits and more is better.

    Cheers!
