line of the day – ‘I feel like I just bit an engine and I’m not happy about it’

As usual I’m blown away by the blind tastings. This is what Winelibrary TV is all about and it’s even more fun when Gary gets surprised by a wine that stinks, such as the Burgundy on offer here. Great stuff

I love the cut-in with your prediction. You should start doing more of that, then look back and see how accurate you were. Love the blind tastings.

Don’t drink much Chilean wines but I do remember drinking a Veramonte SB in 2000 that was simply delicious amongst a bunch of wine geeks at a friends house. I think it was the 1997 or 98 vintage.

I love the blind format, and I love the new side of the desk. It is good to mix it up.

And dang, let’s hear it for California!

QOTD: I had some gigundo Carmenere from Chile at a steakhouse once, and it was nice with the food. I can’t recall the name.

Blind tasting format is working very well. Maybe you should do one a week for a while?

  • Two favorite things about this episode:

    1) Big ass glass
    2) Blind tasting (always fun)

QOTD: Fav Chilean wine: Carmenere from Maipo (with a little Gorgonzola)

  • Damn. I thought it was a competition with my “4”

Best wine from Chile I’ve ever tasted is the Don Melchor. Pretty standard answer but not had many Chilean wines.

  • QOTD: We had a 2007 Quintay Sauvignon Blanc recently that was really solid. Lots of acid, some stone fruit and minerals and it went great with food.

I always enjoy the blind format. The flashback was perfection!!!

Fun show GV! Love the blind tastings! How about a double blind show next time?

Q – Santa Rita Casa Real Cab. Also, I have had some reasonably priced pinot from Chile that has been quite good for the money.

  • I love the blind, but please don’t put what the wines are in the middle of the video. I like to not have my opinions influenced until I see what Gary sees.
