I’m with Aussie Sammy… do an in-flight wine tasting! Now *there’s* some poor QPR i’m sure but i’d so love for you to get reactions of the flight crew and passengers… even have your row mates taste with you? Do they drink wine? What are their impressions? That would be CLASSIC!!!

When i was in Beijing, a chinese hotel called the RED WALL has a bottle of a chinese CS..and it tasted FUNNY..but not bad..very interesting and it somewhat makes my palate felt very FURRY. LOL.

Great episode!! QOTD: I don’t think I’ve ever had a minibar in my room! The hotels aren’t classy enough! That being said, my favorite hotel drink memory- every time we’d go on a trip to visit relatives when I was young, my fam would stay at the same Knights Inn in Merrillville, IN and every time I’d get a can of Crush Grape pop from the vending machine. It was the only time I ever drank grape pop, but I got it EVERY time we were there & it was always something to look forward to!

Whats up every one?? Well I guess its time I came out of the lurker closet. Id have to say the best beverage I have ever had was on my honeymoon, it was a bottle of Domaine Ste. Michelle Sparkling Wine I couldn’t tell you if it was a Blanc de Blancs or a Extra Dry or anything else. What I can tell you was that it was the most flavorfull champagne I have ever had. Blame it on being in Maui, or the honeymoon, or whatever. This bottle of hotel champagne was truly memorable and better than anything I have had since. I know its not a highly rated beverage, but Im not about that. I believe we all have our favorites and our “value wines” and to me those are the best. I honestly have not had this Sparkling Wine since so I don’t know if it was just the Maui air but I can tell you It was Damn good.

A little dizzy, but fun stuff.

HAHAHAHAH!!! That was fantastic, what a brilliant idea for the Thunder Show.

QOTD: During a bachelor party we absolutely RAAAAAAIIDED the mini bar when we came back wasted to the hotel… I mean, we absolutely PILLAGED it. We ate everything, which I believe included Peanut M&Ms, Granola Bars, Mini Pringles can, jar of cashews (probably cost $12 alone), giant Snickers bar, and who knows what else. Can’t remember the beverages (beer & cheap wine?) but we drank all of them too. My buddy who had the hotel room on his credit card was not very happy at checkout 🙂

Great episode. Love the hotel wine idea. Thanks for going the extra mile to pump out content even when you were not in your usual location.

I love the hotel bar action. I have hit them a few times. Lets be honest though even crappy chard tastes better on vacation.

QOTD: Good old fashion water. My wife and snuck away to a hotel to get a quick break from kids, work, pressure for a little “mommy daddy alone time”. After several hours of working up a sweat we were dying and I mean dying for some water. I grabbed a bottle from the mini fridge and my wife said don’t drink that it is 5 dollar water. At that point I didn’t care we drank it and even she agreed that it was the best damn 5 dollar water she ever drank in her life. Moral of the story hotel mini bars are overpriced and with a successful 24 years a marriage I can safely say don’t forget to take some time bonding with the one you love.

Great idea, you should do these on-the-road shows more often, mini bar or not! flip cam ftw!

QOTD: My dad works in the hotel business, so I was taught at a young age to buy my drinks outside and keep them cold and on hand in the mini bar (never pay that hotel mark-up!)

Fun show, Gary. I once stayed at a hotel that [no kidding] tried to bill me for just looking at the drinks in the mini bar!! It was in London. I had lifted a few different beverage containers to simply read the labels, and then replaced them without consuming any of the drinks. However, the fridge had sensors under each beverage that told the computerized billing system that a beverage had been taken from the fridge, and placed the charge on my room bill. It all worked out in the end, but now I am paranoid about even opening the mini-bar door and looking in!

QOTD: The Torraderado Hotel in Cancun, Mexico. We broke out the casadores and had a wonderful evening with some ladies we’d met at La Boom just down the street. This is circa 1998. 🙂

I had a small bottle of sparkling mineral water at a hotel in napa valley and it ended up costing like $15 my mom was pissed!! this was 10yrs ago.

Gary…PLEASE COME TO BLT STEAK on Sunset Blvd. (near your hotel). We were recently voted one of the top 10 new restaraunts in LA and our former sommelier was the one that HOOKED me on WLTV!!! We have a fairly impressive wine list and i promise to style you out like no other for a memorable experience West Coast style. I work tommorrow evening. Ask for Mark. Even if you don’t come in for dinner come and have a drink and check us out and let us give you a little left coast love.

QOTD: I was in high school on a band trip to Florida, where my jazz band was playing at Disney World. Some of my friends discovered that they could remove the back of their mini bar to get to the drinks without breaking the seal on the front, so the hotel wouldn’t check to see what had been consumed. Any of those drinks were the best, because of the memories associated.
