This is cool! A 1992 Pommard…I was only ten years old then. Wines are like people, they are hard to predict and that’s what makes them amazing. I wish I could get my hands on some of that.

QOTD: I think my way of making this, and the years to come great is to do what I do and be what I am. Sounds cliché, but someone once told me, “Do what only you can do” and to me that means pursuing what you excel at. For me, it’s wine and communication. In three weeks I am starting a course in wine tasting and sharing which will allow me to broaden my area of expertise and share my knowledge of wine with people. Thanks to people like Gary, I have gained much confidence in my passion of wine and my ability to share my connaissances.

    Cheers!

  • A short and sweet lovefest. Very nice show with a wonderful wine. Now to try and find some.

QOTD: I am going to switch tennis racquets (1st time in 10 years) and enjoy some phenomenal wines, esp the ’05 Reignac, whenever it comes in! Hint, hint. 😉

Cool tasting. Come to Chicago and I’ll bring a bottle to your hotel.

BTW — You should get a mini-tripod and toss it in your bag. Would make these a lot easier to watch. Also, I like these <10 min shows — much more likely to watch these.

  • Great “live” episode Gary!

QOTD: I will always live with the big picture in mind, never let narrow mindedness creep in, and will work my face off. I know ’09 will not be my year, but ’10 may be my great year.

Just 2 days ago I had some serious ’02 Burgundy at “Eno” restaurant in Atlanta. I don’t remember if it was a Pommard or not, but it was my first taste with serious burgundy in a long time and I know just how alluring a great, well-aged bottle of the Burg can be. Hope to see more episodes with aged and cellared wines in the future!

  • Hey Gary! You’re in my neck of the woods.

Thanks for doing the show even on the road, it was excellent.

Make sure to pick up an SF Chronicle tomorrow, they are doing a 24 page insert on the SF Chronicle Wine Competition. You can see who all the winners were and find some hidden gems for your wine shop!

QOTD: I’m going to get my wine in as many states as I can. So far just CA and NY, many more to go.

QOTD: Give, give, give back to the community! When u give, u get the world.

Amazing that a 17 year old village level pinot tastes young…never would have guessed that…I wonder if there was any bricking in the color…Gary didnt mention it.

Wow, a 500-bone wine, if you could find it for sale at all. It’s nice to see people enjoying wine I hope to be able to afford someday–makes the daily grind a little more bearable. I wish you had asked your guest how he’d obtained the wine–did he buy it in 1994 at his local shop? Later, at an auction? Inherit it? Sell his soul to the devil? Very enjoyable show.

QOTD: Sorry–I want to take my rivals by surprise.

Great job Alex! Gary keep this format going while you’re on the road. It’s awesome.

QOTD: This is the first year that my grapes will produce a crop. I have a backyard vineyard with 6 Frontenacs and 12 Marquettes. Both are UofM developed hybrids created to withstand the cold MN winters and shorter growing season. Exciting stuff, the Marquettes were only released in 2006 and have great potential. This is also the first year I will be making wine. I am totally stoked.

Fun episode; I love the mature ones myself, including wine.

QOTD: 2009 is a year for me to buy less and drink more so that I can actually step into my cellar. My belief is that our current economic turmoil was created by a higher being to thin out our cellars. At least I get to drink more.
