  • With bloggers so worried about what camera to use and lighting etc… You show that content above all else wins. You’re in the trenches, old school with a little flip cam and killing it. Who needs Mott? J/K

Great show! Two of my favorites have been the last two on the road. Definitely keep the road trip posts coming.

Lovin’ the short OTR episodes–Great one.

QOTD: Thanks for putting it that way, ‘What are YOU going to do to make this the/your BEST year ever’, causing me to re-think this a bit…

In 2009 I am going to follow my passions to where ever they may lead and no matter what, I will not give up.

  • Gary: get all the travels in you can right now my friend…once that baby shows up, things are going to slow down a little. (as well they should, if you don’t spend time with the baby you’ll regret it.) Looking forward to the winelibrary family shows, like “What wines pair well with Gerber baby foods?” and “How do you baby-proof the wine racks?”

QOTD: I’m going to think WAY outside the box.

Qotd: make it work in California

Btw, 92=??? Really, thats it? I know the scores are BS, but what does a wine have to do to break 94? Send you into a trance? 😉

I love these short and sweet episodes. I love the longer ones too, but it’s fun that you break things up.

Love Pommard. I was there in ’06 and LOVED it. My husband and I rented bicycles and wine tasted throughout much of Burgundy.

QOTD: Great question. I’m going to keep loving, keep traveling, keep drinking yummy wines and keep working toward my dreams!

Gary forgot to mention you wisely (anc correctly) did not swish and spit. You really enjoyed swallowing that taste and you can see it in your expression. Your joy and excitment made me happy-happy too.

[Yah I know that all sounds “dirty”, just get your minds out of the gutter.]

comment on the blind shows before I watch this episode:
I realize I am in the .005% that does NOT like the blind tastings.
So, a suggestion: Maybe if you had a guest participate w/ you or some how jazzed it up.
Looking at other comments, I guess it is pretty good the way it is but I hate them

QOTD: Legacy. How will I be remembered. So, what can I do for others. Times are good for me right now. Like one of the comments above – pay it forward.
Really like the comments from people that want to be better for their families in ’09. Wine people are the best.
Working the harvest would make 2009 a success for me.

Gary, love these shows! You should take your flipcam everywhere & do a short show wherever you find wine- more restaurant winelist reviews, even into grocery/liquor stores to see if you can find any interesting wines other than those from the major distributors!

QOTD: of course expand my palate & drink more wine/a greater variety of wine than ever, and also doing clinical rotations getting closer to graduating from college & my wedding!!

  • I’m loving the Flipcam! Great episodes coming out of that! Also, best QOTD ever.

QOTD: Crush it. I’m gonna dream, ask “Why?”, ask “Why not?”, and learn everything I can from the brilliant people that surround me.

Again…following on from yesterday another great little show and one that shows an improptu tasting during your working day.
Really loving the recent burgundy tastings…hands up for more of them.

i love these “in the trenches” episodes. i think you should mix in a few of these from time to time when you’re back home.

i’ve been drinking A LOT of priorat lately and i’m craving a good pinot – i think watching this just pushed me over the edge, might have to make a trip to perpignan this weekend.

safe travels and keep up the good work!

  • Thanks for this episode Gary! And thank you Alex for sharing a Leroy with Gary and the rest of us.

This is just another great reinforcement of something I always tell me guests when I host wine tastings: pick wines by the producer first, then by vintage if possible. A great producer will make great wines even in more challenging vintages; they’ll just make less of it.

QOTD: Have more people over to drink wine. Get another Samoyed dog. Can hardly get used to it being 2009. Maybe because 2008 went by so fast.
