    Gary,

I’m a new fan. And a huge one at that. Every show tops the previous one – you’re a great inspiration!

P.S. There’s a typo on Nicolas’ name in the video description… No biggie but he was, after all, the grandest of guests…

    Cheers from Montreal

  • Fascinating in the sense that Joly seems to represent an entirely different set of criteria as to what makes a “great” wine – ie, what nature and fate put into a wine are what make it great (vs. whether you actually like the way it ends up tasting?)

I’d put him at one end of a spectrum, but who do you put at the other end? Michel Rolland? Sparky Marquis? What would the polar opposite be, exactly?

Personally, a white wine that tastes like copper pennies sounds like fun, at least in theory–but what on earth do you eat with something like that?

Incidentally, thanks again for a kick-ass event in South Sioux City, hopefully the first of many. Hope flying SUX is easier in the future, too!

  • As someone who loves to garden organically and also loves wine I can honestly say that this man would be on my top 10 people to drink a glass with before I die. Very very interesting.

Thanks so much for bringing Nicolas Joly on! What a guy. One of the most memorable wines I’ve ever had was his 2002 Le Petit Clos.

Although I am American, and speak pretty darned good English, I simply can’t watch Masterpiece Theater on the TV. Sorry……..but have a hard time understanding the English speaking English.
    Similar to today’s show. But,
not to be deterred, I shall return tomorrow, as the parts I could catch, were very interesting.
