Absolutely the BEST episode we have ever seen! AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! So many great things were said that I don’t know where to begin. Yup, get out of the way, understand nature, and lend a hand when necessary … let the wine sing. AWESOME Gary … THANK YOU for bringing us such a treat. Can’t wait for part two (and three and four). ALSO, thanks for letting him talk … I saw no restraint on your part, Gary, just enthusiastic interest, which is what we had as viewers as well. A perfect show and a very admirable guest! Plus you two work so well together. Entertaining, educational, spiritual, earthy, metaphysical, and full of passion. Serve it up Dude! Ku-freakin-dos. Yup!

  • That may be gary’s long lost relative. very entertaining and informatative and it’s great to listen to someone so passionate who could probably care less for a RP score, or mass marketing, or even perhaps what the average person thinks of his wine.

i tasted the clos de la burg. last year, , , i didnt enjoy the flavor profile (ultra vegital) but it was my favorite wine of the tasting. . . if that makes any sense.

as mr. joly would say, ”it was singing”

    looking forward to part deux.

  • I am biased because my name is “Ehlers” but I hope that your California biodynamic winery is the Ehlers Estate winery in the Napa Valley next week.

  • Wow great stuff Gary, can’t believe the information on here. I thought it would be a boring episode with one wine but wow was I surprised , I learned a lot about wine today and now I see why you respect Nicolas Joly as much as you do. Bravo for being Nature’s Assistant

Have been a long time lurker (from Belgium of all places!) but this episode(on top of the other magnificent guest episodes featuring Jancis Robinson, Randall Grahm, …) made me finally come out. Great episode, can’t wait for part II!

Keep on doing the guest shows and blind tasting eps!

  • Hey Gary ask him about the Ecole du vin e du terroir!
And what does it means to him the 4 element spirits… Im not joking… that two questions are going deep into things you just don´t imagine that exists as substance not dense… Just do it for wines sakes!

    Francisco Bosco.

Awesome guest – a legend, brilliant show! I am inspired by his views about ‘place’.

Yes you can make delicious, balanced, ‘perfect’ wine by blending and selecting only the best grapes from different vineyards and regions (as so many back labels proudly trumpet) but ‘perfection’ is VERY, very different to ‘personality’.

    Hey Gary ,

I just want to say this is my favorite episode along with k vinters (Charles Smith). I thought it was very insightful and i like the fact that he took his time to explain his background and the process. I also like the fact that he was on for more then 30min guest like that should be on for a min of an hour he great. I would of like to see a three part episode but at least you did three. GREAT JOB!!!

What can I say, but WOW! This is going down as my favorite episode. Here you truly have two passionate people, and you guys work SO well together in this episode. I frankly found myself hoping that you didn’t get to the tasting as I was enjoying the conversation so much.

Then, to my very pleasant surprise, I find that this will be a two-part episode! YAY! Really can’t say enough about how much I enjoyed this one. This was your best guest yet GV – thanks for bringing SERIOUS thunder on this one!

As for the wines, looking forward to the list. If these are Monsieur Joly’s wines, they will be my first order from the Wine Library. So, how much is shipping to Ohio? 🙂
