Fantastic guest and two superb episodes. Gary actually overshadowed for probably the only time ever

QOTD: I think I am. Maybe I like the wines I drink, but haven’t been exposed to real excellence. Biodynamic or otherwise. I once drove a BMW M3. I then bought a VW GTI. I like my car, but because I drove that M3, I don’t know I would be truly happy until I got behind the wheel of something that gave me the M3 experience.

    What a great series.

Great 2 parter, this seems like it will be a classic week being all bios.

QOTD: The majority of the time yes, I think I have finally gotten to the point where my palate is starting to stablize and I am finally buying things that I will like now and in a few years. Much more hit and miss when I was first getting into wine.

hey Gary, I loved these 2 episodes !

Nicolas Joly is such a character ! He seems very in touch with the world around him.

QOTD: 90% of the wine I drink makes me happy. When it is well made and gives you aromas and tastes you can relate to, it s such a wonderful feeling!

(here s a note in French for Mr Joly)
Mr Joly, je pense que vous avez de tres bonnes idees, et que vous avez raison de rester si pres de la nature. Le vin, c est avant tout la vigne, et c est vraiment important de la laisser chanter comme vous dites. Bravo!

QOTD — I am relatively happy with most of the wine I drink; as good as it’s become over the last 30 years, I think it can still get better (ie more balanced)

Absolutely fascinating! Thank you, Nicolas and Gary!

QOTD: Truly happy in a satisfied, complete kind of way? Not often. I hadn’t thought of it in that way before this…

This guy needs to write a dissertation on the ontology of wine. Definitely my favorite guest as of yet….
QOTD: The more I learn, the more oscillation there is in my enjoyment of wine. Higher highs and lower lows…

Interesting guest. I found his ideas vacillating between profoundness and craziness.

QOTD: Yes, I am happy with the wines I drink today. Each year I get better at selecting them, and you know what. Even the duds have something to say. As Gary often says, you really have to expand your palate.

First off….one of the greatest episodes (well 2 episodes) of all time. That was the culmination of knowledge and enlightenment that I feel every wine drinker should hear. Bravo GV!

QOTD: To be frank, I was, but now I want to try what biodynamic wines are bringing to the table! I love wine, so I will always be happy, but now i see that I could be HAPPIER!

These are two terrific episodes. I enjoy his passion. Thank you both for your committment to better wine and wine drinking.

QOTD – As one that is still very much a neophyte I am realitively happy but am still learning and it has been a great journey so far. Mr. Joly has opened a new path for me.

  • A life-changing pair of episodes. I want to quit my job and apprentice under Mr. Joly. Thank you.

QotD: Yes, but I cannot wait to have my eyes opened to the magic of Biodyanami.

  • Abbe Faria

QOTD: No. On the one hand because in Argentina, where I live, imports are next to none. We have some good wine locally of course, of which I drink a lot of, but I never get to drink the wines I lust about after reading about in books or watching on this show. On the other hand, I am not happy with the wine I drink because I have very recently started an informal yet rigorous training of my palate: I drink what I know I will not like, what I think I will, and what I’m not sure about. Hopefuly this will lead to answering yes to the same question in a few years.

I said it yesterday and I’ll say it again now, Nicolas Joly has been a real treat.. Let’s hear it for true biodynamic wines. Santé!

  • QOTD: Yes, I am happy when I drink the wines that I like to drink (Musar, Dagueneau, Bergström, Teachworth, and others). However, this is very true that these times are tough and it is difficult to enjoy these wines on a regular basis. So I enjoy them when I have close friends over and the time to relax and appreciate them.

One of the greatest shows to date…good job Gary.

Gary, Mr. Joly was a wonderful guest. It is always inspirational to see someone who is so passionate about his work. You have to be impressed by anyone who speaks so elequently about any topic. It is wonderful that his topic is wine. His take on science v. nature blew me away: “The cold cleverness that kills common sense.” Fantastic show.

As for the QOTD, the more I learn about all the variables that go into wine production, and all the things that can result in a good or bad wine, the more I appreciate the good wines. I don’t think this answer addresses the central issue of Mr. Joly’s question, but I have never tasted a wine that was produced from biodynamically-grown grapes, so I have no way to compare. It’s sort of like high-def television. Until I experienced a high-def picture, I was happy with the old analogue picture. Now I gotta get me some of that juice!!

Kudos to you for bringing such a high-quality guest on the show. You are doing a terrific job.

Just as good as the first part! Very fun to listen to this episode.

QOTD= I have been struggling with some of the wines I have had recently. I would have to say that I have been “happy” with a small percentage. Part of this is the process of beginning to understand my own preferences.

Thanks to the thunder show I have been branching out and discovering new likes and dislikes.

  • I just want to agree with what everyone has been saying in that this was the most informative, entertaining, profound episode of WLTV that I have ever seen (not to undermine other episodes, I hold this program in the highest regard). It’s about time that the world begins to recognize that the philosophy of biodynamism is the only way to produce a product of true quality. It was a treat having Mr. Joly on the show, but more than anything, I hope that his message resonates with all of the wine community, and incites change among both consumers and producers.

QOTD: As I am a college student, I have to be satisfied with the condition of the wine world today. I can get an astounding variance of flavor, texture, and style in wine for very little money. However, I agree completely that the wine I have tried has not provoked an emotive response. It’s interesting, yes, but I do not feel a personality in it. In truth, I would be willing to invest quite a bit extra for a bottle of wine that leads to a truly dynamic, personal experience.

Again, I want to give my thanks to producers like Mr. Joly and WLTV for both reverting back to the old ways and bringing this movement to our attention.

Amazing couple of shows. It is great to see all the passion on this subject from all the vayniacs! Thank you Nicolas and Gary for bringing the thunder.
QOTD: My answer, is that altough I consider most wine to taste good,it does take a certain combination of the right wine, place, and people to make me happy.

Superlative show today. Reminds me of why I want to go back to France and live there for a year.
