Was the sound low on both these Parts? Had to tweak my sound and I almost never have to do that.
    QOTD1: Nope.
    QOTD2: Concrete or Cement?

Great show. It was really great to see the people behind my favorite PN to date, the Rho.

QOTD1: Never been to the largest state in the Union. Vague Michelle Shocked reference.

QOTD2: Cement is OK, but not around my ankles in deep water.

What a wonderful 2 parter with Peter and Rebecca. I have been to their Lompoc facility and am a member of their filos wine club. GV, I have had some of all 9 of their bottlings and these folks rock them all. You have to have a little Rose of Syrah in the summer when the temp is way up. Great vino from really great peeps.

    QOTD: Not yet…

QOTD: I visited Alaska in August 1992. It’s incredible.

Blending…I used to blend my cereals at the dorm cafeteria cereal buffet. Ohh and marinades for BBQ. I blend a mean marinade.

Episode 1 was great, but then in episode 2 they degraded into that mystical, voodoo biodynamics bullsh** that made me turn off the Nicolas Joly episodes. Don’t get me wrong; organic winemaking is great, but when you sink into the sheer stupidity of astrology, homeopathy, etc. that defines biodynamics, you lose me.

QOTD1: Unfortunately, Alaska is the only state I HAVEN’T been too. Hope to remedy that some day.

QOTD2: Cement? Never really thought about it much. It’s been around for a few thousand years. Makes great sidewalks.

I?ve been to Alaska a couple of times visiting my sister who raised sled dogs. This was before Gary was born. Both times we took the dirt road to get there. For the last 30 years or so she?s lived about 2 miles from me in the Philly area.

Nice guests. I think enjoyed the last half more, but then coming off of the Nicolas Joly episodes must be tough. Nice to see more biodynamics, and blending… keep it coming.

  • QOTD: I’ve not been to Alaska – yet.

Cement? I spent a summer working for a construction company that built in-ground pools. I have plenty of experiences with cement, none good.

Really nice guests, very interesting and fun show. Recently some friends from Palmer, Alaska sent me two bottles of half blueberry, half grape wine. One was a merlot blend and one was a white zin blend. Both were very floral and incredibly fun to drink! They came from the Bear Creek Winery in Homer, Alaska..wonderful expansion on my pallate:)
QOTD: No, I would love to though.
    QOTD:#2-In moderation when needed.

  • Peter and Rebecca… Wife and I will work for board and blending sessions for a week. If you’d entertain that, we’ll plan next vacation out there.

  • Great episode. Keep up this sort of educational stuff!

Alaska is beautiful but too cold in the winter for humans to live in. I would like to visit in the summertime.

Cement has had an amazing impact on human culture making possible building forms which were never considered when all we had was stones and wood. I bet someone has already written a book on the impact of cement in human culture.

  • Waited to post until the end of the second episode. Very interesting guests and I have had their wines I bought from Wine Library on my trip there last summer and they were wonderful and 3 bottles of Rogue still to drink. I have been to Alaska twice and I have to say the country is beautiful but the cities suck big time. They look like some kind of industrial construction project in the worst Soviet sense plopped down in beautiful country. Talk about cement.

QOTD: Never been to Alaska, but I’m a big fan of cement. Its ability to stabilize load bearing structures is unmatched.
