Gary, what do you mean you’ve never had a smokey beverage? You tasted that rauchbier with Alec when he was first on and you’ve had the peaty Islay scotches of Laphroaig and Lagavulin. I would say that those are pretty darn smokey.

I love Mezcal…Del Maguey was a revelation to me when a friend brought it to a Single-Malt Tasting – The Pechuga is one of the single greatest spirits I’ve ever had, bar none.

QOTD 2- I believe everything is contagious- you make your own luck and you get treated the way you treat other people so, to quote Bobby McPherin “Don’t worry, be happy!” Think optimisitcally and you won’t believe how things will turn your way

QOTD 2) (phenomenal question!) My sense of optimism comes from the love that I grew up with from my family, and raw ambition and determination to succeed.

Richard: Is your agave plant used to make agave nectar as well or is it just made from the Blue Webber varietal? And how about all the recent anti-agave (syrup, nectar) hype? Next time, I’d like to get a better idea of how your palate works.

QOTD: Knowing that I live in one of the most beautiful places in the world, am part of an incredible community, LOVE my family AND get to play with food and wine for work. I can’t fight it– but be inspired to stay positive.

Excellent Show, Topic, and Guest! This rocked the house, without question. I loved the story about the Mezcal making process, and can’t wait to get my hands on some (I love smoke… bbq, scotch, deli meats, you name it!). This was a great learning experience.

QOTD2: I find it interesting that an individual with a personality type that is innately optimistic is curious how the rest of us get through the day! I find optimism in learning about new things every day, and applying them or teaching them to others. This gives me great satisfaction to be able to research an everyday question, and use the info to improve my immediate world, which in itself creates optimism.

QOTD1: No

QOTD2: Love. Lots of love. While my husband is one of the 8.1%+ unemployed, I know things will get better. We love each other and we have a great life. We’ll get through the financial difficulties. On a lighter note, good thing our wine storage unit was well stocked before our spending-freeze.

Mezcal scares me. It makes my tummy hurt.

A quote from “Young Guns II.” That was my first knowledge of Mezcal. Never tasted it.

I know nothing of Mezcal, but I grew up in a small town that now makes “Core” vodka from apples. I will send some, from the first rip/vintage. I am curious to what you would think.

As a chilean heavy drinker (in the past), I love mezcal, the worm for me gives me the rocker attitude and then I love to hear some heavy music and bang my head to the rythim, it a power lighter for me, If I want to get crazy I drink agave spirits, they are just rock ^n roll of death awakers… in the most blinging way…

QOTD: Where do I get my sense of optimism? I get it from listening to great music–that’s what first tends to move my heart and mind. Then, I listen to guys like Gary V. and I know that ANYTHING is possible when you apply your heart and soul 100%. Then–I just breathe…

QotD#1: That’s a no. Had never even heard of it.

QotD#2: From God, from my wife, from my family, and from a deep-rooted belief that I was meant to do something that matters.

In terms where I get my optimism?..hmpp, look to the heavens and ask for strength!

QOTD: After this episode I have no optimism.. It drained out of my body and onto the carpet into a little puddle of salty sandy water.

QOTD1: I was at The Reata (a restaurant) in Ft. Worth 10 or 12 years ago, and they were having a tasting of high-dollar single village mezcals. I don’t like tequila AT ALL, but I was amazed at how smooth and complex the mezcals were; delicious. I loved them, but I was in my early to mid 20s at the time and couldn’t afford to buy any. I haven’t had any since.

QOTD2: My optimism comes from the little things everyday that make me smile.
