Tremendous episode, tremendous guest. Watching Gary learning is pure entertainment. This is what WLTV is all about; new experiences and knowledgeable, fun guests. Loved it.

Another classic, great show, Richard is a super guest. QOTD#1 Yes, once…and all I remember is how smokey it was! QOTD#2: The knowledge that everyday is a blessing…why not be optimistic!

    My optimism? My kids.

Great episode. Been many moons since I had any Mezcal, but I loved it at the time:)

Gary, what do you mean you’ve never had a smokey beverage? You tasted that rauchbier with Alec when he was first on and you’ve had the peaty Islay scotches of Laphroaig and Lagavulin. I would say that those are pretty darn smokey.

  • I love Mezcal…Del Maguey was a revelation to me when a friend brought it to a Single-Malt Tasting – The Pechuga is one of the single greatest spirits I’ve ever had, bar none.

  • And now I’m out of my mind with the mezcal
I couldn’t change when you finally returned
You say I taught you that love could be holy
    But that’s something I still haven’t learned

And the questions that keep me surrounded
By despair from the morning til night
Have no answers to keep me from drowning
There’s no answers to make it all right

    Great guest and interesting interview
QOTD 1- never had a Mescal
QOTD 2- I believe everything is contagious- you make your own luck and you get treated the way you treat other people so, to quote Bobby McPherin “Don’t worry, be happy!” Think optimisitcally and you won’t believe how things will turn your way

LOVE the Tatanka reference!!! He was my favorite growing up, after Hulk Hogan and his mighty golden locks, of course.

    QOTD 1) Yes, only once.
QOTD 2) (phenomenal question!) My sense of optimism comes from the love that I grew up with from my family, and raw ambition and determination to succeed.

Richard: Is your agave plant used to make agave nectar as well or is it just made from the Blue Webber varietal? And how about all the recent anti-agave (syrup, nectar) hype? Next time, I’d like to get a better idea of how your palate works.

QOTD: Knowing that I live in one of the most beautiful places in the world, am part of an incredible community, LOVE my family AND get to play with food and wine for work. I can’t fight it– but be inspired to stay positive.

Excellent Show, Topic, and Guest! This rocked the house, without question. I loved the story about the Mezcal making process, and can’t wait to get my hands on some (I love smoke… bbq, scotch, deli meats, you name it!). This was a great learning experience.

    QOTD1: Nada
QOTD2: I find it interesting that an individual with a personality type that is innately optimistic is curious how the rest of us get through the day! I find optimism in learning about new things every day, and applying them or teaching them to others. This gives me great satisfaction to be able to research an everyday question, and use the info to improve my immediate world, which in itself creates optimism.

    QOTD1: No

QOTD2: Love. Lots of love. While my husband is one of the 8.1%+ unemployed, I know things will get better. We love each other and we have a great life. We’ll get through the financial difficulties. On a lighter note, good thing our wine storage unit was well stocked before our spending-freeze.

“You remember the stories John use to tell us about the the three chinamen playing Fantan? This guy runs up to them and says, “Hey, the world’s coming to an end!” and the first one says, “Well, I best go to the mission and pray,” and the second one says, “Well, hell, I’m gonna go and buy me a case of Mezcal and six whores,” and the third one says “Well, I’m gonna finish the game.” I shall finish the game, Doc.”

A quote from “Young Guns II.” That was my first knowledge of Mezcal. Never tasted it.

I know nothing of Mezcal, but I grew up in a small town that now makes “Core” vodka from apples. I will send some, from the first rip/vintage. I am curious to what you would think.

Oh, Gary will finish the game.

Gary’s Question: Yes…I had the cheap stuff in Germany.

Richard: I get mine from the belief that we all have the choice to find the happiness in life or complain about what we have no control over. Life is too short not to find your happiness.

QOTD: Where do I get my sense of optimism? I get it from listening to great music–that’s what first tends to move my heart and mind. Then, I listen to guys like Gary V. and I know that ANYTHING is possible when you apply your heart and soul 100%. Then–I just breathe…

QotD#2: From God, from my wife, from my family, and from a deep-rooted belief that I was meant to do something that matters.

Good show… definitely interested in trying this with a cigar now.

QOTD1: I was at The Reata (a restaurant) in Ft. Worth 10 or 12 years ago, and they were having a tasting of high-dollar single village mezcals. I don’t like tequila AT ALL, but I was amazed at how smooth and complex the mezcals were; delicious. I loved them, but I was in my early to mid 20s at the time and couldn’t afford to buy any. I haven’t had any since.

QOTD2: My optimism comes from the little things everyday that make me smile.
