Question of the day
– When I hear of the word Legit I think of the MC Hammer song “Too Legit To Quit”

I like a little more loose show… A bit too tight. Have watched Diggnation & TRS for years so I am used to the tangents 🙂

I am a lover of Brunello di Montalcino, and Argiano is one of my top favorites. I have also been a little hesitant to jump on the first pre-release prices. They seem a little high to me, given the economy. I suspect we will get a shot at these wines at lower prices further down the road.

Semi QOTD: I like your occasional, short digressions to discuss other wines, particularly if the comment illuminates something you just said.

Definatly like some of the small talk between wines as long as you dont go down to long of a tangent.

I know I have seen movies like you were saying but none are coming to mind right now.

Legit. First thing that definatly comes to mind is MC Hammer.

QOTD1: I like it loose. 30 seconds of small talk works wonders for the children of the 80’s.

QOTD2: Star Wars Episode II… Hear me out! Action packed for the first 30 minutes as well as the last 30 minutes, but the love story in the middle was uncalled for.

QOTD3: Here’s the problem… When “2 Legit 2 Quit” was released, the rap artist dropped the MC from the beginning of his name. The correct answer is just HAMMER! “Ring the bell. School’s in suckas!”

QOTD1: You’re the best, Gary, so trust your gut and be as loose as you’d like to be. But please, for the love of God, don’t use the word “conversate” again. You’re far too bright to be perpetuating a word so awful.

GV, I would love to see an episode on bacon wine pairings. Though bacon is thought of by many as commonplace at breakfast, I like to eat it for any meal (remember when the Dad in Grumpy Old Men said he ate somewhere around 3 pounds of bacon a day?)!! I find that the smoke dominates any big red I’ve had with it (heck, maybe I should go w/ beaujolais!).

Legit is an overused word! HA!!! However if your gonna fall in love with a word it should be for bad things too. You need to start using the word “tired” when describing a wine or something you don’t like. It’s great, for example, the steroids issue in Major League Baseball is “tired. Maybe you just tasted a wine you really didn’t like, and you usually say, that this or that wine is not a very good play, where instead you could say that this or that wine is, “tired” or “a tired act”. I would love it if you used my name in this in a show also. By the way I’m a big brunello fan loved the show today!!! very Tight!!!!

Oh I finally thought of a movie (because I saw someone else mention it 🙂 — Wall-E. Definitely had some really slow parts that left me fidgeting.

gotta love the brunellos! Great show and keep em coming. are there any budget brunellos out there though?

Out of the lurker shadows for my second comment in about a year and a half of watching.

QOTD – It’s funny, like a lot of people here my first thought was “Too legit to quit!”

MiniQOTD – Isn’t this show all about your adventures in the wine world? Sure, maybe if you’re really into petit syrah right now you should just do an episode on it, but sometimes the digressions are what make the show interesting. I don’t even see WLTV as being mainly about the wine tastings anymore; it seems to me like that framework is there more as a catalyst for interesting discussions about wine (or even something completely different). Then again I usually pay more attention to the reviews of the <$20 bottles; I’m headed to grad school in the fall, can’t be dropping 40+ bones on vino just yet.

The Move Question – When “Dawn of the Dead” (the 2004 remake) came out, I had a friend who watched it and told me “The beginning and the end were awesome, but everything in between was just boring”. I saw the film, and couldn’t disagree more. While he had enjoyed the flick for its action and gore, he completely missed (what I thought was) the most important part – there was real deep commentary on consumer culture hidden in there. A bunch of people trapped in a mall… they have all of the “stuff” they could possibly want, but it’s not going to save them from having their brains eaten. It’s what distinguished this movie from typical action/horror film; I actually found it to be very funny, and it’s now one of my all-time favorites. I’m not sure if there’s a message here… maybe just another example of why you should trust your own “palate”?

BTW, in response to one of the comments you read – I for one love the “tech-geeks” like Kevin. You should bring on the Totally Rad Show guys! I think they’ve complimented you on their show at least once.

One final thing. You mentioned “decant this one 1 hr, that one 2-3 hrs” (paraphrased). Is it possible to over-decant?
On a related note, what’s the best way to store a bottle you’ve opened? It usually takes me 2-3+ days to get through one; I tend to use one of those vacuum-pump corks and stick it in the fridge.

Legit: Of course, I’m a kid of the 1980s/90s, so MC Hammer and 2 Lijit 2 Quit comes to mind. But more recently, it makes me think of the web 2 company Lijit (social search and content sharing for bloggers) at http://www.lijit.com

Just watched the Conan clip, Gary is tiny compared to Conan, but great clip.

The Village, good movie but feel asleep during the forest sequence.

Hi Gary, love the thunder show. You mentioned bacon and i was in Napa a few weeks ago and had a cab sav at Del Dotto that tasted exactly like bacon. I think it was 05 and out of the barrel. You probably wont read this posting tho:>)

I love Brunello Di Montalcino wines. They’re in fact some of the best tasting of the middle Italy (in my opinion, along with Sicilian), and of course a bit expensive, they’re worth it. I first tried Brunello when J Jacuzzi offered us a bottle of his personal cave at Iannilli Ristorante a decade ago.

QOTD1: keep going, experiment, it’s nice to see how WLTV evolves.

QOTD2: Authenticity in form and manner, true to itself, ameliorative.
