QOTD- nothing really any good on an airplane. I remember a wine with a fish on the label on a COntinental Airlines flight that did not kill me

Gin and tonic. Midwest Express used to give you all the wine you could drink, but it was generally crap and I couldn’t really taste much at that altitude anyway.

QOFT: Not really trying to be a snob here, but most memorable was conducting a wine tasting for the First Class Cabin crew on a Cathay Pacific flight to Hong Kong; great white burgundy, grand marque Champagne and Chateau Lascombes (I think).

About 25 years ago, my wife and I flew with our then new-born son from Phoenix to L.A. to attend my grandmother’s 85th birthday party. We were on America West and the three of us were the only passengers! How that happened, I can’t say. The Captain said they would have cancelled the flight, but the plane was needed in L.A. for a return trip later that day. Anyway, it was a Sunday morning flight and all we wanted was orange juice & coffee. The problem was that for two paying passengers, they would not fire up the ol’ juice machine & coffee pot [they said the machines weren’t working that morning] so the best drink on that flight was water!

Since the wine usually sucks on airplanes, beer is a safe alternative. They can’t screw that up.
