line of the day – ‘I’d be a jerk not to mention the apple flavour in this wine’

Good solid episode, Gary pumped, in form and back on the couch.

Ok Gary, I am convinced! I’m going to the wine store tomorrow and will try something totally new. I am a red head so will try a white in your honor. I am SOOO excited to get my April Wine Club shipment, have our wine “club” set up and are ready for our first meeting! We can’t wait! I’m turning them all on to Wine Library TV!

Thanks for the Hermitage Blanc. You’re really pushing me into the whites these days!!!

QOTD: Having just returned from my 40th birthday trip to Portugal and Spain and YES!, you did HOOK ME UP! I’m making some specialties from Porto for the neighbors who took care of the house while we were gone. I’ll be serving them the 40 year old Sandeman Tawny I received as a birthday gift from George Sandeman, through you, Brandon, and Bryan. I’ll also be starting with a white Port and I found the Palestra.

So it’s a Portuguese Friday at my house – expanding the pallets of the neigbors.

I know I’m too late for the Pinto Gris easter egg – but it’s worth mentioning.

QOTD: I’m working at the Wine (& Spirits) shop on Saturday. Boy was it busy on Friday. Sunday will be boring. Nothing to do. Everyone is busy with Easter. Not us, we’re Passover. We’ll find something good to drink this weekend. Since we finished the Kosher For Passover wine at the seder, we’ll move on to our wine storage unit and non-kosher wines. Maybe Lirac this weekend. We’ll see.

Amazingly PA carries both of the Easter wines on this WLTV show. “My” store has two Renwood Zins including the one you dissed. I haven’t tried it. A nearby store carries the Jaboulet Hermitage. I haven’t tried it, $$.

This week Howard Stern and Ben Stern bantered like Gary V and Sasha. All entertaining.

Happy Easter (Ostara) to the Vaynernation! Now I want to drink a white Hermitage!

This holiday, alot is happening. I’m watching the show, waiting for my parents who are travelling 800km (some 650 miles) to come and visit. Tomorrow is my dad’s 55th birthday. We are going out for a fancy supper and going to see a concert by this awesome electro/funk/jazz band from Sherbrooke, Québec. (Check ’em out: http://www.misteurvalaire.ca/).

We are drinking awesome bottles as usual. On my counter waiting, I’ve opened a Roaring Meg Central Otago Pinot 2007, a Château de la Rivière Fronsac 2001. Tomorrow I have two unbelievable bottles that I shall be offering as a birthday gift to my father: A 2003 Guigal Brune et Blonde and a 1994 Tokaji Aszù.

    Cheers to all!

Gary, what do you think about Miles Austin from the Dallas Cowboys visiting the Jets? I also was wondering what you would have thought if T.O. landed with the Jets. great episode, btw.

I have come to expect such from California wines – overoaked, hot, unbalanced…I do love Napa Cabs but that is it for the Golden State. Great Show!

QOTD: Doesn’t really matter what we are drinking as long as we are with family. But, I’m sure the father-in-law will hook us up with something good.

    Easter-egg is Pinot Gris

    Enjoy the holiday everyone!

Boy, it smells like a BLN night tonight! Easter Egg was Cabernet Sauvignon!

Will wait for a furniture delivery for Moms and sip some vino for sure. At Pre-Easter dinner(Sat. night), might have a Portuguese wine or a Barbera(1st one for me)with some Paella and roasted lamb leg.

Portuguese Bacalhau, Portuguese Picadinho, and prime rib for Easter Sunday!

    G, enjoy your Holiday!

    Happy easter peeps!

Great episode Gary. Gewurztraminers have been a great topic for me lately as well, and great wine to pair with a lot of different foods, especially for the easter crowd at the family table. St. Christopher makes a great sweeter lightly crisp one, and cuvee anne-laure has a little more spice and slight fruit fowardness.

Qotd: I will probably bring an Evergreen Vineyard Riesling to dinner for my mom and dad, and then a Nelms Road Cabernet Sauvignon for myself and Uncle.

    Happy Easter everyone!

G, Nice going on the Hermitage Blanc. I’m going Avignon in two weeks for my Honeymoon and plan on tasting quite a bit of white Rhone wines. And, to be honest, even while being “in the land of the Rhone Gods”, I probably still won’t find many for under $40 locally; at least not the Hermitage. we’re going to be so out-of-our-minds with all the great wines that will be surrounding us, it won’t make a difference. Thanks…and I grabbed a couple.

QOTD: Tonight – A Jorge Ordonez tempranillo. The remainder of the Weekend? A big tasting tomorrow….we’ll see what Daddy brings home. Have a great holiday weekend and thanks for the show.
