QOTD – I’m doing the Easter thing with the family and I’m not quite sure what we’re drinking yet.

I sure I’m hours late but the Easter egg was Pinot Gris.

GOTD: Aren’t the holidays all about spending time with the family and friends

You’ve got me trying wines in every shade of gold and burgundy (Redskins!), from every corner of the earth that I can find – as well as giving everything I come across a “sniffy sniff” for future reference.

I’m seeing some Indian dance tomorrow and going out for indian food, thinking of bringing along a Spatlese Riesling to entice my friends into the wine world…

Q: How come no root beer shows?

Thanks to you, Gary, you have expanded my palate within a year and introduced me to the world of wine. THANKS SO MUCH! I didn’t know you sold wristbands, thats sweet

Last night I had a 2005 Zenato Ripassa Veneto. Tonight I am enjoying a glass of La Valentina Montepulciano D’Abruzzo 2006. Easter is low-key with the fam – going out for dinner. May crack into April Club “B” pack tomorrow evening with friends…I’m eyeing the Muscadet. 🙂

Working on Easter, flying the “friendly skies.” (thanks for your piece on airline wine, I’ve been meaning to suggest it for a while now. I am ashamed of the wine my airline carries, very much appreciate your very “balanced” review of airline swill. ) Aside from that, I find my palate aligning with yours: leaning heavily towards the “old world.” It is rare for me to find a new world wine at a decent price I can really enjoy. Funny how France, Spain and Italy can produce my kind of wine at a much better price point. I guess I should also include our brothers in South America who show traditional standards with a little more of the fruit sometimes missing in France and Italy. Okay, enough rambling, here’s my question to you Gary, how do you feel about “cold treatment” of wine? I noticed on a Italian wine recently they went out of their way to advertise their wine as not cold treated. Perhaps another angle to the show to incorporate; some of the technical aspects of wine making??
You do awesome work my friend. I am envious of the passion you convey in your pod’s. Carry on brother.

  • Pinot Gris is the easter egg.

I got on late tonight but figured I would give it a shot.

Love the show! Heading to the Wine store in the morning to pick up some of your suggestions.

Great show, GV! No experience with the Hermitage but looking forward to it and NOT a Zin fan…

QOTD – menu – sweet Amish ham loaves with dijon and brown sugar sauce with Yukon gold potato gratin and green bean almondine. Wine – Durbacher Klingleberger Riesling – Spatlese. How wrong can it get…?

    Happy Easter to all!

If it where in my budget I would defiantly be picking up that Hermitage Blanc! Sounds great.

QOTD: Ham, potato salad and a middle ages pie (the recipe not the pie itself obviously) for dinner. As for drinking (not paired with dinner but later) I think I will be popping open the sake (Moonstone Coconut Lemongrass) I have been holding onto as we have family in.

  • mrfroopy

That fiddletown used to be around 10 bucks.. now 20? ouch

Hermitage that looks like urine and the Oak Monster strikes. Classic stuff. Great show GV. Remember that you have a lot of people from outside the US watching. Big fan base here in Ireland ! Bought a friend of mine your book as a pressie. He is a really big fan. My daughters loves watching the intro to your shows and I have to do my own version for them after reading them their bedtime stories. Legend.

QOTD : Spending lots and lots time with family and friends. Awesome. I love Easter, gets all the family together. As for the wines, Tallarook Roussane 2006 from Victoria and Roland Betton Crozes Hermitage 2005.
