line of the day – ‘if this wine was 12-13 dollars I would cartwheel off this stage and start hugging everybody’

Monster performance from GV in front of a live audience. Handles a rowdy crowd and a dodgy sound system with great skill and is completely in his element. Phenomenal.

QOTD: I don’t have enough room to answer. San Diego is near perfect. I live in PA. And I believe Southern CA is the best place to live. Been there. Done that. Miss that. Hope to move back some day.

Vernaccia di San Gimignano may have brightened things or some Rueda or some Gruner Veltliner. We’ll see what the reds bring on Part 2.

Whew, the QOTD could not come any sooner. I’m exhausted by 1) horrific video (your handjob camera is HDTV compared to that) and 2) I will chime in; the rude, obnoxious and loud SoCAs! Being of Teutonic background who respects when someone is talking and believes in some sense of “order” to the mayhem. This was an absolute cluster blank gone bad. I have seen every single episode of WLTV and this has to be my first negative response.

To add salt to the wound, you say it’s 19 bones and it reminds you of Me-shon Johnson!!! Any sports fan, especially one who is an avid football fan would say “Johnny Unitas” when referring to the number “19.” And you don’t need to be a Colts fan to know that.

All in all, a poor showing from the peeps in SD. I was so distraught after watching this I poured myself a Maryland Pinot Grigio from Sugarloaf Mtn. Actually, it wasn’t too bad.

QOTD: Chargers Cheerleaders and RUDE, LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS PEEPS! Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

    Cheers!

P.S. How fresh is it?? 🙂

Love that you’re getting out and tasting with the people Gary, but…. I hope this is the last episode in front of a live audience… it was really awkward, and distracting with all of the crowd noise and shushing. Wine tasting events tend to be pretty boisterous- they’re hard to do if you’re at the helm, and even harder when on camera I’m sure. A for effort.

QOTD: Leaving NYC and staying next to Balboa park in mid-January. The fresh linens smell in the morning air.

This was a tough show to watch. The video was granier than a homemade
movie from the 60s. The sound was lousy and that crowd was terrible. Was
anyone there even listening? How many times did you say SHHH? Great job
with the reviews though. Don’t know how you were able to concentrate but
you brought thunder on your evals.

QOTD: The best weather of any city anywhere in the US of A

understood it was in a public place but how many times did u have to say shhhh this show??? did anyone count the SHHs? will we have the same for the reds tomorrow? It was fun regardless, some good content still.

QOTD: now thanks to this episode, san diego = Shhh.

    QOTD: Burgundy…Ron Burgundy, White Burgundy…

Enjoyed the live audience, although there was a lot of “shhh-ing” going on. Gary, please please please come to Kansas sometime – maybe you could try some vino from the OZ Winery in Wamego. You’re the best!!!

If I was heading to an event where Gary was speaking or tasting live I would be amped as well. I think the crowd was just feeding off of his energy let alone the fact it was happy hour.

For all of the School teachers that put themselves on a pedestal and were devastated for what they perceived as disrespectful, get a grip. People were trying to quietly speak among themselves, but in a crowded room full of liquor, noise happens.

Lurker coming out of the closet. My wife (although pregnant and didn’t taste) stayed an extra night in San Diego just for the show. I couldn’t believe the amount of people who were talking during the show. In my opinion it seemed like a lot of people weren’t part of the vaynernation. With that said, we had a great night, I caught a book and had it signed and it was awesome to meet Gary.

    QOTD: Overpriced

I going to have to give this ep a major pazzzzz with 5 z’s. Probly just because I’ve seen better streams live from the planet Mars.

Since this is my first reply ever I will oblige the question of the day.
answer: It is my birthplace, and for that reason I always wanted to like the Padres, but what a terrible waste of time that was. Also, its probably the furthest this this from my mind wine-wise, but then as again Im not that wise.

Too bad I had to be all negative about the show on my first post, whats up with that.

    HOLLA!

Great stuff despite the poor lighting you were fighting. Crows def would have been happier with Bacardi by the sound of it. I would like to see you taste more Fineo as well.

    Thanks GV

  • If it wasn’t for the crowd noises, it would’ve been great, it was just a ‘good’ show. I think I have been very iffy on chardonnay my whole life, and to be honest I prefer other white varietals or white blends, but that’s my taste. I have friends who only drink Chardonnay.

QOTD: See’s Candies, SD Chargers, the waterfront, party town.

In response to Mr. John Farrin: rude people are rude people. It has nothing to do with “the millenials”. I am 27 and very respectful. Your comment is just as rude as the people talking and shows ignorance.

The other thing is your dealing with a roomful of people who had been drinking and feeding off the energy of Gary.

Finally a better mic could have alleviated some of the background noise.
I did find the noise distracting, but it’s a live event.

    QOTD: Weather, Beaches, Padres-Bah

  • Well when you’re tasting 8 wines with Gary Vaynerchuk it’s kinda hard to keep your mouth shut.

Don’t be jealous just because you weren’t there.

  • Great job and very unique taping, just like your bro Jim Kramer, fun stuff. Next time you’ll have to get some lights or light on top of the camera to illuminate you. Yes it’s about content and that was great, would just like to see you and the wines better, a bit like hurding cats with the audience, but great to watch.

We fired AI here in Detroit, maybe the most hated athlete in the city. He also got banned from two of the three casinos whe have due to his demeanor and outburst while gambling (it was in the Detroit News/Free Press).

Love the pouring out the crappy bottle, I laughed so hard when you did that several weeks ago.

QOTD: I think of Navy Ships, the Chargers, Junior Seau (yes he’s been long gone) and LT.

Not your best foot forward in my hmble opinion. Good comments regarding the wines, very loud and “enthusiastic” boarding on rude crowd.

QOTD – at some point I will visit the San Diego Padres Baseball Park and pray that none of your guests will sit close to me.

  • Steak Monster

Really fun episode, I got the feeling you were broadcasting from the future with the camera static and flashing lights, or maybe a bathroom becuase it was so echo-y.
Should have had some random people come up and taste with you, that would have been fun.

Not the best effort GV, the video was terrible, and the sound wasn’t far behind.

QOTD: Either the best uniforms in the NFL (powder puff blues) or Ron Burgundy.

Whoa on the quality. What happened? Made me remember how good your flipcam really is. I couldn’t believe how many people were talking. Didn’t they know you were taping a show and how much the show means to us? Sounded like a bunch of high school kids forced to listen to a motivational speaker. You did a good job by trying to regain the focus, wish they would’ve listened.

QOTD: Many many things, but just now, spear fishing Point Loma by day, and singing live band karaoke at the 710 by night.
