line of the day – ‘I killed the sink’

GV in his element here with no distractions. There’s no getting away from it – he’s one hell of an entertaining guy. I think if he strapped the flipcam to his head and walked around with it all day I’d probably be addicted to watching the results. What does that say about me? Better not think too hard about it!

QOTD: Probably a meal I had at the Grand Hyatt Jakarta a few years back. Best recent one would be at Cyrus, which is in a small hotel in Healdsburg, CA (2 Michelin stars).

PLEASE put the camcorder on a tripod. It is very hard to follow the video when it is hand-held and shaking. I could not even read one of the names of wine from the label due to the movement of the camera skaking. I hope you get a tripod asap!

QOTD: I had a bacon cheeseburger and fries brought up by room service at the Hyatt Grand Central in NYC after a day full of flight layovers and delays that made the trip last about 14 hours ( I hate to fly even when things go smooth). Best meal in a hotel and most satisfying meal i had for the entire trip.

    Hi Gary,

QOTD: The best meal in a hotel was at the restaurant Les Avenues at The Peninsula in Chicago. Really outstanding. Actually, that hotel has 2 other very good restaurants, the one in the lobby (ingeniously called The Lobby :)) and an Asian restaurant a level below that is worth visiting. Nice episode.

QOTD: Smoked salmon plate with a dry rose in a hotel room in Paris with two beautiful traveling companions. How about a show on dry rose? Had one from Chinon, Domaine Baudry 2006 that tasted like apples that you bob for on Halloween.

QOTD: My wife and I usually don’t dine at the hotel we’re staying in, but we have had good experiences with the Restaurant at the Applewood Inn in Sonoma.

  • Nice place to stay Gary, W hotels rock almost all over the world.

QOTD: Best meal, by far new year’s dinner at Le Basilic in Cancun, a meal to go to heaven for.

Good show, a bit bumpy, but very “pumped”.

Chilean Sea Bass at Surf & Sand in Laguna Beach CA. Actually, anything would taste good there with the awesome beachfront restaurant.

Pineapple Grill at the Ritz-Carlton Maui during the International Food and Wine Festival. Fresh fish dishes were amazing and a wonderful wine selection!
I’m a Sonoma County raised girl who is now transplanted to Tennessee. Would love to see a Merlot tasting on your show. I know it’s not a popular red, but would love to get your take on some different Merlots.

dude G, i know i say awesome show like everytime, but AWESOME SHOW. i guess thats why i keep comin back! youre gettin good with the flipcam action. seeing you in the mirror to start off kinda tripped me out. i also liked the separate pouring and tasting rooms. classic ending to top it off. short and sweet. im glad the cab was good, but im not surprised, cause thats how the Dub (W hotel) rolls.

QOTD: Hands down best meal I ever had in a hotel was at the opening of KOI in Planet Hollywood Las Vegas. Sorry I can’t remember the name of the dish I had, but everyone shared food at the table and it was all phenomenal!

Great epsiode! I really liked the backwards label in the mirror- classic.

QOTD: My best restaurant meal in a Hotel? By a long shot, La Bourgogne at Alvear Palace in Buenos Aires, Argentina on my 50th birthday. Truly a 5 star (no, make it 6 star) experience. Not only was the 5 course meal sinfully great, but the wine list and cheese tray were exceptional. And all at a price that was too good to be true. It’s a remarkable hotel for anyone going to BA.

  • Love the hotel wine episodes and the one shot on a plane. If you ever take a different airline than you did the tasting on previously, I (and I am sure other Vaniaks) would be interested to see what other airlines are serving in their 35000 feet wine cellar.

QOTD: Best hotel meal would have to be at The Cabin restaurant in the Grand Summit Resort Hotel at the Canyons in Utah. PRIMO atmosphere, PRIMO food, and most importantly, a PRIMO wine list.

Thanks for the on-the-road show once again! Wasn’t able to your past episodes as I had an ad-hoc overseas conference. Will be watching them over the weekend though!

Anyway, QOTD: Best meal = quiet fine dining where the waitors know us by name and serve us as if we had butler service.

Just saw you during the draft. Don’t be so upset. Jets have bigger needs, but Sanchez will be a good QB. Cheer up Gary! I am biased though, since I am a USC alum.

You were on NFL Network. Saw the disgust on your face with the Sanchez pick prior to the announcement of the trade data. You must be pissed! Love the enthusiasm. Respectfully, Kevin from Scottsdale, Arizona
