These improv, flipcam episodes are fantastic – anyone who says they are sloppy needs their head examined. Also the Jets hoodie is phenomenal – I’ll have to get one.

QOTD: I say Grand Ole Opry.

Love the flip-cam episodes. Appreciate the effort you make to pump out a show. Enjoy traveling with you. It’s not only a wine review but also a review in hotel accomodations. Also the informality is great, unshaven in your gear makes you even more likeable.

Mega props first off and thanks again for the shows on the road. Live and learn from the video stuff but did you really have 3 posts in a row about it?? Come on people, if its been addressed once assume the Vayner-dude will see it…especially if its in the post right before yours!! Gary I believe in you and your ability to do your job, I believe in the remote shows, they are what they are and they have a very Bear Grylls feel which is fun. Mott does a great job too, he can shoot a flea off a dogs back from a hundred yards. Ok Ok enough grinding my gears so on to the important stuff:

Hess Chardonnay is one of the only Chards Ill touch, it is really great, very well balanced with nice dried fruit. Another great one from Cali (not Napa though) that you might like is a Morgan Chardonnay from Monterey. Its unoaked but thats just fine for a Cali chard in my opinion, American oak is overrated and tawdry…yep I said it. I guess Im French now. The Morgan is a little sweeter than the Hess with some very nice bright fruit but for what it is, it is great.
    Take care and travel safely.

You say “Nashville”, I say “Taffy”

You’ve got it 100% right, GV. Remember where you really come from.

I really dig the flip cam stuff. I mentioned a while back that I work at a W and you’re last couple of hotel shows has really gotten the Food&Bev department buzzing.

    QotD: Nashville->Tennessee->Whiskey->Jack Daniels

I really enjoy your show- but more your passion for what you do. I am not a wine expert but I have discovered a wine that was left as a gift at my house and it is by far the best wine in the world

T-vine- Red wine- That is what is on the label and it is the best wine in the world.

I would love to know if you have tried this wine. The wine maker is Greg Brown- No Relation, just fate.

  • Sue

Sloppy makes these episodes fun! Keep them coming!

i much prefer the random flip-cam episode to a guest that does not contribute much to the show….

QOTD: the first word that came to mind was ‘texas.’ yeah….i have no idea why that would be the 1st word to think of either…..

QOTD: Predators (that poor hockey team needs all the love they can get)

Great show! Loving the improv/guerrilla style content. I prefer the normal, but hey I can’t complain…just appreciate the continuous pumping of content. Hope you are enjoying Nashville…it’s such a great city.

One of the best shows in a while!

QOTD: Nashville, by way of Sicamous and the Kelowna Rockets >>> Shea Weber!

I’m a big fan of the flip cam shows! There’s a whole lot of personality in them that is different from regular WLTV and your commitment to the show and your audience is incredible 🙂 Thank you!

    Ok, so I’m curious..

Is Mott safer because you accidently switched off the cam… or…
Because half the video is shot from your mid forehead down!!!

Gotta say Gary.. It’s these episodes that bring me back.. I know its about marketing your brand, and selling wine from your store, but the fact that you “keep it real” and are not afraid to diss even your own products that makes me trust you just a little bit..

i definitely prefer the in ‘studio’ episodes gary, but i can tell you this, that does not mean i would rather not see these flip cam episodes at all. i appreciate your commitment so much, i have learned so much from these shows.

qotd: you say nashville, i say music. i’ve never been there, but i hear they have an excellent music scene, another one of my passions.

  • Hey Gary,

I absolutely love the impromptu flip cam shows. I hope you’re expensing the wines that you buy in hotels. $60 for two half bottles is a LOT of money!

    QOTD: Nashville – 2 Things:

#1: I think of all of my musician friends who flocked to the music city after college to pursue their dreams.

#2: I think of the beautiful vintage concert posters made at Hatch Show Print in downtown Nashville.

I think that the style of the travel shows brings versatility because you no longer depend on Mott to do a show. I like to learn about any wine, and wines at a hotel is really neat to learn about. Keep up the good work.

Another good on the road show. And what a surprise to find to very good bottles! Not that you would but don’t let the complainers get you down. The rough edges are what keep it fresh and fun (and keeps Mott employed 🙂 )

QOTD: Gata be BBQ. Yum YUM!!

Flip Cam shows are great! Couldn’t watch yesterday’s though for all the reasons mentioned (it was too distracting for me, but I know you’ve learned your lesson), but that’s the only one.

QOTD: Awesome city! Been there a couple of times and it’s great.

  • ChrisR

Just a thought on the chilling issue. You could warm the wines up a little in the microwave in your room. That’s apparently a restaurant trick.

QOTD: Tennessee. I know, pretty lame. But I love Tennessee, beautiful part of the country that I enjoyed when I drove through it once.
