These improv, flipcam episodes are fantastic – anyone who says they are sloppy needs their head examined. Also the Jets hoodie is phenomenal – I’ll have to get one.

  • Oh and Gary just an FYI the new code name for Happy Ending is “Tension Relief” it seems word is out on the Happy Ending lingo

Love the improv episodes. I wouldn’t consider them sloppy at all. I love the commitment you have to pump out content everyday.

    QTOD: Country Music (ewww)

  • Yeah, for the QOTD I gotta go with country music too — but I haven’t been to Nashville, so maybe I’d associate it with something different if I had.

Better show than the last two flip cam ones, I’d say… The “practice” is paying off! I’d like to see you re-taste the ABC Pinot at room temperature to see if more earth & less egg nog comes through.

Thanks for being dedicated to the Vaynernation while on the road, Gary — a shaky-cammed, hotel room episode is better than nothing in my book!

    QOTD: Barbecue.

GV: Your show brought up a peeve of mine about wine: why don’t we see more half bottles? Is it just not cost-effective? Is there not enough demand to warrant it?

It’s not always possible to kill a bottle in a single night (nor is it always advisable), and a half bottle is the perfect quantity for some wine with dinner, or just whenever. I’d buy more, but the selection is so limited, that it’s really rare that I’ll find something that interests me in the tiny half bottle section, unless I’m looking for a sparkler or a Chardonnay. Personally, I’d love to have something like K Vintner’s Kung Fu Girl Riesling in a half bottle package so I could just keep a few in my fridge and bust them as needed, without worrying about it going bad.

If it’s a question of lack of demand, well, wineries really need to start making a push for alternative packaging. Half bottles (especially if they’re plastic, like we’ve seen Beaujolais Nouveau this year) should be fairly inexpensive to produce, and would be something that wineries could use to get people who currently don’t drink much wine more interested, since it’d be in a friendlier, less daunting package, but not carry the stigma of a juice box.

  • Hey Gary, I’m a new(ish) fan and I’ve been catching up like a mad man ever since I found out about this great show you do. Loving these mobile episodes, dare I say I like them better than the “studio” versions. Sporadic technical issues aside, the raw, “lets see what we get” vibe is rockin. Keep up the good work, bud.

  • I Absolutely LOVE the content you pump out, especially the “wing it” on road Episodes with the flip. Also looking forward to the future “baby episodes” from the apartment.

    QOTD: Music.

hi gary–keep up the flipcam shows!

    nashville is country music!

i had the ABC 07 last week and scored it 88. Your are absolutely correct that the wine is tight on the nose, solid, but lacking charisma. I didn’t find any bacon fat or egg nogg at all though.

    Gary,

I am a long time follower and fan of the show. My .02 says keep doing the flip shows! Did the back lighting stink the other day? For sure, but as you get use to the Flip and how to best make the video look good for us, things will work out, because the voice content is always good to great!

I along with you was shocked at the quality of wines this Hotel had in the mini bar. Way better value than the Johnny Walker that is for sure!

QOTD: When you say Nashville, I say country and class! The folks in Nashville are always great people and the Music in Nashville is always great. The quality of life in Nashville reminds me a lot of California, except for the weather…:-)

    Safe travels!

    Hey all,

First comment, but a long time LURKER (can a brother get a wristband??). Anyway, I think Gary V has some competition. Not sure if you’ve seen this, but its a short from the cast of the show “Parks and Recreation”. Pretty funny stuff.

    “Woodey, Oakey and….. Winey”. Classic.

  • Love the episode and thanks for coming down to help us with the Premiere Wine Auction (http://www.nashvillewineauction.com). Its a wonderful series of events (starting with the fabulous tasting last night) and for an even better cause – supporting the fight against cancer. I love the show and what you are doing for people wanting to learn about wine.

QOTD: Nashville = Titans (We’re good sports even when the Jets beat the crap out of us)

    QOTD— The grand ‘ol oprey

Gary– thanks for the great hotel shows. Maybe the camera action is sloppy, but the shows are right on. We can all go out & get a good bottle “down the corner” at the local store or order online at some great retailer that ships (wine library) — but sometmes when travelling , its nice to know that sometimes the hotel wine is actually good. Maybe you should keep tabs on the hotel scores– and later report a top, bottom and average score, naming the hotels that score better. Thanks for being my wine friend.

Gary I still know very little and care very little about wine but I love your energy so I watch the show every week. Its addictive. Like the improv shows but I miss Mott. That’s kind of weird since we never see or hear him but its kind of like professor x without the x-men.

Really enjoy the guerilla style episodes. I think primarily because you go straight to the well with wine, sniffy, taste, discuss (w/ sidebars). Simple, essence of GV, great show. Peace.

had a bottle of 05 au bon climat pinot from santa barbera that was a bust.like your idea of tasting whites warm.had a bottle of 05 bridlewood vognier reserve. popped and poured warm. enormous nose of minerals and pungent flavors, nice transition to a medium peach, sweet finish.90+. chilled it(the wife likes frozen) and it completely changed the wine. the nose shutdown, much of complexity was gone and the finish became syrupy and the backend acid was gone.lightly chilled with any kind of spicy food seems good.

  • Gary I think the flip cam episodes are great. I enjoy watching them as “filler episodes” while you are on the run. Thanks for taking the time to do them!
