Mum and I say no- if it’s just for fun, then perhaps your under-estimating your awesome fun factor and if you’re going for convenience, then I think this is moving in the commercial un-casual side of programming. 🙂

Have you decided with what wine will you toast the baby?! I love the anticipation, that’s cool.

I would not worry about audio right now. I would first fix the lighting situation. If you could flag the light that is spilling onto the back wall off it would be much more aesthetically pleasing. you might be able to do it with adjusting the barn doors on the light without much work at all.

production quality is often overlooked but is so important to maintain and bring in new viewers.

QOTD: Gotta agree with those who say no mic at home, yes on the road (or at least do something to improve the sound on the road).

Hoping you have the new arrival! Great moment. Time will some strange things. The next three months will be the fastest (and slowest) of your life.

Gary, thanks for doing another Portugese show! I find the Alentejo is often ?new world? in style ? it tends to make fruit-forward wines and it is also more open to experimentation than the rest of Portugal. Alentejo reds are also the wines of the Portuguese Carnation Revolution!

The Esporao Reserva is always a fun, hedonistic wine. Esporao also has a Touriga Nacional varietal that is really interesting – with the complex expressive nose you often get from T-Nac.

  • as always great show never a dull moment in the GV universe, You continue to educate and inspire. I love the introduction to “New” areas around the world
I wish we had access to the same number of labels as other states, because the Portugesse and obscure French regions are my love affair yet there is more red tape than one cares to deal with to get it into TN

    QOTD: no mic

  • QOTD: No, it’s really not very WLTV.
Didn’t you try it ages back, and it just didn’t work.
Those things will just end up causing more problems.

I do however think that you can improve the show by sending me a wristband.
Good luck with the Baby Gary.

Hey Gary who has the first vintage labeling rights to your child. If I may offer a few suggestions for names even though I’m sure this is a done deal.
For a boy: Domainik Romanee-Conti Vaynerchuk, Charles Corton-Charlemagne Vaynerchuk, or my fav Lawrence Lynch-Bages Vaynerchuk(unfortunate this comes with the inevitable nickname Larry the lunchbag).
For a girl Donnatella Dufort-Viviens Vaynerchuk, Villette Veuve-Cliquot Vaynerchuk, or Yvette Yquem Vaynerchuk.
You get the idea. Just be careful of the nicknames derivatives. Look at mine.
Be sure to share this with the Mrs. as well as my comments after Gigondas episode. Need all the humor you can get about now is my guess. Kitch

  • I never thought sound has been an issue, except for the ‘big crowd’ shows. (which I think you should abandon anyways) Go with what you got, but definitely improve the ‘big guest’ shows, especially if they are outside the THUNDERdome.

Do not use a wireless mic. The mic from the camera already sounds great and it gives us the feel of actually being in the room with you. A wireless mic will add an unnatural component that will not allow you to connect as much with the audience. It will sound more like you are talking into a mic than talking to us in your office. AUTHENTICITY!!!

  • Love the mike. go with it. Had the Esporao Reserva Red 2005 at the big tasting and it along with 1 other Esporao were my wines of the cruise but I did not know how inexpensive they were. Even better. The Chrysea Douro was also very high on my list.
