line of the day -‘The French are the only people who have fought every war for the last 2000 years …and have lost them all.’

Guest very knows his stuff and is a legend in the wine world but his manner of speaking is slightly annoying. If he stuck to the facts and didn’t try to be a comedian I think I’d have enjoyed him a lot more.

listen closely Vayniacs, the man is not mumbling.

Ok. Daniel has my attention. The dude has an interesting history.
Love his references to food. Like,
slow food- would make Alice Waters & Chef Nathan Lyon proud, and
“wine is a part of the meal”.
Am also of fan of Keith Richards, but…….Dillon. Never.
    Looking forward to tomorrows video.

  • Gary, love your show, but didn´t like the way you treat this guy. If you truly believe he is such a legend, why do you keep interrupting him all the time and not let him finish what he has to say. And he clarly has a lot to say, but you seem to be focused on something else.
And finally you even leave the room. I understand you don´t edit but this isn´t about editing, rather about respect.

Neat guy, with a sly sense of humor, and a ton of information! Looking forward to part 2.

Don’t confuse an accent with mumbling, just listen closely, and learn!

Daniel has a really interesting story. Thanks for having him on, GV. He’s really been all over the wine world.

And I don’t think he mumbles at all. He simply pronounces words a bit differently than Americans are used to hearing them. I look forward to tasting his wines.

I’ve got to agree with Vinograf, great guest, but show him some more respect in front of the cam regardless of how well you know him.

I thought we ordered a microphone for guests. I’ve got it cranked up and I can’t make out half of what Gary interupts. Guess I’ll rewind and do it over.

  • Whoooooaaaaa Nellie! This is a classic and it’s only Part 1! If I say so myself G-Man, your interviewing skills with Daniel are top notch. I love the comment about the French and he is correct to a point. Napoleon won a few battles.

It is a joy to listen to someone who relates life’s travels and passions to wine. I, too, want to know about South American women. 🙂

Great, great show. Looking forward to Part 2 tomorrow. What a character.

    “. . . but that’s another story!”

Rachett Jaw with very large hands. Very interesting, and I love it!

Amazing content. I love Daniel’s accent. Living in so many places has given him an “international” style of english.

  • Great, This guest has some of the best quotes of any other guest hands down: “makes you nervous without being alarmed”… “you are younger now than you were older then”… “their mothers loved them” … “they lost every one of them”… “I’m a nice guy”… “otherwise it reminds you of your mother in law, brings tears to your eyes”… ” etc. PLUS his accent makes these so enjoyable. Brilliant!

I’ve Never had any of his wines, must fix that. Very interesting first part.

    Hey Gary

I think too many people here are being WAY too hard on you. This first off, is by far one of the most interesting guests you have ever had on the show. That also makes for a difficult interview, especially when it’s obvious this man can carry a conversation on his own. This guest could easily turn into a 7-part episode. I think your interruptions were warranted as you have a time schedule and an established relationship with the guest. He’s an easy-going guy and reminds me of a Gary Vaynerchuk 30 years from now.

    Can’t wait for part two!

A mic on the guest might have been a good idea, but was still able to hear everything.

    Gary,

This was one of the best most informative wltv eps I’ve seen in a long time. Daniel Schuster is a fantastic person to listen to. His knowledge of winemaking around world in the early day is quite outstanding. Wow who knew that he was the first commercial winery on the South Island?? I also love his ‘one liners’, it had me pissing myself…kudos to Daniel!!!!

  • Stacey Cook

Wow, this is great! I’m such a fan of new zealand Sauvignon Blanc and look forward to tasting this one. Where’s part 2!
