line of the day -‘The French are the only people who have fought every war for the last 2000 years …and have lost them all.’

Guest very knows his stuff and is a legend in the wine world but his manner of speaking is slightly annoying. If he stuck to the facts and didn’t try to be a comedian I think I’d have enjoyed him a lot more.

    Gary,

You need to let your guests speak. You kept interrupting the stories you asked him to tell. Mr. Schuster is very interesting I would have liked to hear his story without you stomping all over him. He is very engaging and entertaining but you took away from it.

Gary, I am a long time Vaniac and have been with you since eps. 1, this could have been a classic episode.

Keep Crushing It and bringing the Thunder…

This would have been a great time to put a mic on the guest. I am actually glad that the guest talked more than you did as turning up my speakers would have been a harsh thing if you had talked more. I think you did bring up your personal knowledge of the mans womanizing too much (I don’t mind that you know and let us know at first) but in doing so you interrupted the flow of the stories the man was trying to tell.

Obviously the man is legendary. Great guest!

Great guest … but once again a noticeable difference in volume between Gary & his guest.

I am waiting with bated breath to see if Gary will ask Daniel why none of his wines are under screwcap, especially the SB.

Daniel must be a real iconoclast if he is refusing to use screwcaps in the NZ where virtually *everything* is under screwcap.

My fingers are crossed that he “pops” the question.

  • most excellent…looking forward to to the second half. Got to hand it to the folks who are wine pioneers and grow where no vine has grown before.
Take what folks say about your “interview technique” with a grain of salt..it is what makes your program unique and keeps it real.
Also, despite your scary prognostications about maybe not having time for this in the future, a show of this caliber that the wine world needs. You’ve set the bar and the expectation, and so if you are not up to it, you are now responsible for the continuity planning.

Saw your tweet on cool websites with new ideas…check this out… http://www.pitchrate.com Free site that hooks up journalists with experts. Great for small business experts who want to talk about their product. And yes Starfruit is terribly underated. @Goode2shooz

nice job. would have been better with a little less on the intro…kind of like getting a wine rated 100 points, drinking it and going, hmm, that’s only a 99…anyway once past the extended play intro it was fine for me. then again, I interrupt people more than Gary does.

great episode. it would have been better if you hadn’t interrupted him so often. his voice is in the low range. perhaps you should give him a wireless mike to enhance quality.

Fantastic Guest!!! I could have listened to him and his stories for hours. Your show and guests like Daniel are reasons I love wine so much more today than in the past. Some quotes that will be with me for years to come:

“Wine should appeal to your heart and not to your brain…if you have to think about it then it is not right for you”

“Do you want to be a kitchen painter or Chagall?” – when talking about the art of making great wine.
