Always love the flip cam episodes. This one gets a 90 just for the egg-white nuggett of information alone.

Great show. Thanks for getting your nerd on. I find the 2004’s interesting only because I’ve had some 2005’s now that blew me away while the 04’s left me feeling they way you did. I hope they will improve in 6-10 years.

QOTD – 2004 means a BAD World Series for the Yankees!

QOTD: The Forgotten Vintage, but thanks to you we know to look for and purchase this vintage out of France, especially Bordeaux. Also Italian Brunello.

    Cute baby-cooing in the backround.

So Billy and Katie Lee split. He should have joined the show and started drinking again….

Great Show-I do like the one wine analysis on occassion. Loved you on Fallon-I am going to try the cock/quarters game tomorrow night with my wine geek friends-totally classic!

QOTD-any pinot (Kanzler Vineyard being the pinnicle) from Kosta Browne 2004.

Enjoyed the program today. Just you and the wine, I like it.

QOTD – 2004 I was just starting to become interested in wine, so I think of my lack of knowledge.

You were great on Fallon. Liked this episode focusing on one wine and getting much more technical. And yes, for $150 it BETTER be fabulous!

QOTD: 2004…my husband and I bought our first house in 2004. That’s what I think of.

Nice focused episode. I’ve been pondering between the 04 and 05 vintage of a Chateau Calon Segur and I must say the pricing of the 04 makes it very attractive.

QOTD: 2004 was the year I had to enter compulsory military service for 2 1/2 years. ‘Cos i’m from Singapore and that’s how they roll here.

  • Great showing on Fallon. Strange coincidence that I was going to set my DVR either way because of the band Street Sweeper Social Club, though I was dissapointed that Stanton Moore was not there. Stanton is the “Haut Brion” of drummers…not La Mission either.

QOTD: 2004 – The year that JZ Wine Company was born.

QOTD – 2004 in general means Ron Zook’s final year at Florida. was a rough ride during the Zooker years, but we go ourselves a helluva coach from it.

The wine i think of with 2004 is Paolo Bea Sagrantino di Montefalco. I wish i had bought more than i did when i had the chance at a reasonable price, that is going to bring joy for a long time.

Would love to see you show this after tomorrow after a major decanting.

QOTD: The big freeze of ’04 in Walla Walla, WA that wiped out their entire crops. Absolutely devastating for them, yet Columbia Valley did alright.

  • Good show, very informative on 04′ vintage and if I happen to spend that kind of cash, I’ll wait.

QOTD: The Red Sox!! and 04′ Brunello, they’re drinkin’ pretty nice, even now.

Can’t wait to see how the La Mission Haut Brion tastes later or even tomorrow. Glad I didn’t drop a fin on it. Thanks Gary

QOTD I think of the Crauford Cabernet 2004. Smokin good with an even better price point for everybody involved

GV, I’m liking all the random backgrounds that have been popping up since you’ve been filming at home and the like. I agree that the once in awhile in depth episodes are a good addition.

QOTD: Notre Dame Class of 2004 baby!

Question for you: is Jimmy Fallon really tall or are you just not?

    Keep it real.

QOTD: I graduated high school in 2004. haha, now that I think about it, it doesn’t even seem that long ago, but it’s already 5 years and I’m heading off to medical school and love watching Gary Vee! Love how life is ever changing.

  • I bought a bottle of La Mission Haut Brion 2001. Despite this vintage is in Hugh Jonhson´s Bordeaux as a good vintage for this wine, 2001 is not often seen as a good vintage in Bordeaux.

I´m not really sure about the time for opening this bottle? Would it be ready for drink now?

QOTD: Graduating high school & the wine I’m drinking tonight is a 2004 from Italy that seems to be matured just right!

    Hi Gary:

I watch your program regularly but don’t ever comment. I was at the taping of the Jimmy Fallon show and you were great! (by far the best of the 3 guests that night). Keep it up!

Quick question: Do you think Jimmy Fallon has ever watched an episode of your show? I think he called himself a ‘big fan’ at some point, but seemed really detached and like he never heard of you before reading some cue cards five minutes prior.

I don’t remember any thing happening in 2004. It kind of was a slide year. As far as the wines also a bit of a slide nothing really stood out.

Enoyed the new format…nice change of pace for when you’re on the road, at home, etc. The “classic” format is still my favorite though, especially for comparing wines!

For this format, it’d be good to also give more general details about the wine, its region, etc. for beginners. Not everyone may know about left and right bank, the grapes used in Bordeaux wines, etc. For instance, I wouldn’t know comparable basic facts about a Portuguese wine, and this format presents a great opportunity for some “basic education” of that nature!

QOTD: The presidential election…for better or for worse!
