That was plenty of Chardonnay… I usally stay away from the aged oaky stuff but so many people like it. Haven’t had it for some time now.

Q1: favorite number is 1971.

QOTD: to indulge Gary Vee, we had a “La Chapelle de Bages” 2002 Pauillac , it was phenomenal… if I had to score it I would give it a 95, I’m easily pleased.

WOW. Haven’t seen the whole show yet, just felt I had to say SOMETHING about that ridiculously racist and inappropriate comment you read out. Seriously, sometimes you have to let comments just slide, some opinions are not worth worrying about. It is SO CLEAR to me that that person’s comment was just based on his own preposterous, ignorant stereotypes, and that he just wanted to make you fit into the only typecast his fossilized brain is willing to accept.

Thought it was ironic that the guy who criticized you as being aggressive, can’t see how aggressive he was in his comments. Made me mad too. Stop watching if you don’t like Gary’s style. There are plenty of us who LOVE his “drunken passionate” episodes.

Love the show as always. Really, REALLY glad to see South Africa at / near the top again, and fantastic to see the new world representing.

FYI – Hemel-en-Aarde means Heaven and Earth, it’s a valley in or near Hermanus in the western cape of South Africa, about 90 miles from Cape Town. Great place to take a holiday actually, there is a beautiful lagoon there but I digress.

QOTD – favourite number is Seven, and this weekend I drank:
1. Croix-de-Barbes Lalande-de-Pomerol 2007. I’d say 82 pts.

2. Penfolds Coonawarra Shiraz 2003 (AUS), decanted for 5 hours. I’ll give it 91+ pts.

3. Kleine Zalze Barrel fermented Chenin Blanc, 2008 (ZA). I’d give it 90 pts.

Oh ya and another thing, never mind the angry racist bastard who criticized your style. It’s you, we all love it, and you wouldn’t be the same without it.

QOTD: Drank some truly nasty merlot at a wedding this weekend. 59pts of disgusting. Disappointing given the wedding was totally over the top extravagant. The family easily spent 125K. Why must wedding wine suck?????

BUT….I was saved when I got home the next day and had 2007 Casa de Vila Verde – Vinho Verde. I am sold on the value of Portugese wine. This bottle was like $9 and was flat out delicious! I give it 90pts. To quote my wife who only took one sip (pregnant), “Give me this stuff when you want to get me into bed!”

Gary, I know everyone has their own palate, but your score on the Mount Eden was outrageous. When Parker, Spectator, and Tanzer all rate that wine 90 points or higher, and you rank it a mere 69 points, I think there’s something fishy goin’ on. I’ve had that wine for the past three or four vintages and I think it’s one of the better California Chardonnays on the market. I think either your palate was just off yesterday, or there’s a conspiracy going on. 69 points?!?! C’mon Gary, you’re gonna start to lose some fans with crap like this…
