line of the day – ‘This is almost like spiked cider’

Pretty low-key episode and the guest struggled to get a word in edgeways. Shame, as it would’ve been nce to hear a bit more from him.

Love the pampers reference – was that diaper filled? Fell in love with Muscat when my boyfriend made me Oysters Rockafeller – your recommendation!!! But find them difficult to find in the stores 🙁

QOTD: I never found solutions but always found new ideas!!!

  • Good episode – very chilled out guest with a good website that I’ve signed up to.
    QOTD – Nope!

thought everyone might enjoy this: http://www.slate.com/id/2222827

no doubt it should lead to some interesting debate as well.

In Portuguese Dry Muscat I have two wise words for you. Joao Pires! I discovered it way back in ’92, as a little niche product in my employer’s portfolio when I was in sales/ distribution. Light, fragrantly perfumed – thoroughly dry peach and melon scents/flavors. Alot more elegant, AND versatile than you’re leading on here. Alsatian drys are (Portuguese dry Muscat’s) equal, and equally overlooked.

An earlier posted comment from “Doug” nailed it. GET TERRY THEISSE!!! The man can practically do NO WRONG, and every producer in his portfolio is a pinnacle performer of the highest caliber, talent, passion, and responsibility.

  • Very nice today, makes me want to go buy some muscat. You were pumped a bit and somewhat feverish in the first half, but you calmed nicely to match you guest.

I really appreciate your vernacular. “This is granny smith all up in it”

QOTD: I think all pop-ups are super useless.

Great shop. Nice zoomy zoom from Mott, we all saw that frizante. Gary your first baby reference was actually in the chardonnay episode where you described one of the as smooth as a babies bottom.

Love the wake up and grab the cab!

    QOTD: Firefox.

  • I should clarify the QOTD.
I did not mean general pop-ups.

    Often when running a program, like QuickBooks or Outlook, and others, there comes an error message pop-up that says something to the effect of;
“This program has stopped working. Click here to check online for a solution and close program”.
I would really like to have the “solution”, but alas, nada.

    Thanks for all the comments.

QOTD: in general no, that type of pop-up is generally not helpful for me. It usually says something inane which makes me wonder why I bothered. Sometimes I will click on them to see if they offer more than ordinary wisdom, just for kicks.

To Eric Orange: Thank you! You helped gain my entrance onto the Thunder Cruise when I won tickets through facebook using localwineevents.com. I had a great time! I follow several cities/regions through the Juice newsletter, but wish that I could have added another city recently when I went out of state (The Grand Cru version seemed to only want me to delete, not add). More retailers, distributors, restaurants etc. should put their events on your site (that’s the way it works, Eric does not do it for them, too hard to keep track of the whole world!). I know I should mention it around here to those places that I think have events they could list.

And I love Moscato d’Asti, especially Marco Negri, Sarraco, Nivole (Michele Chiarelo). I think almost any muscat can be good (dry to sweet) as long as it does not go cloyingly sweet or molasses on the flavors, with enough acid to keep it balanced. I love peach, apricot, honey flavors in general, so I’m a bit biased. I had an orange muscat from Texas which was very interesting, full of orange peel scents and flavors.

  • Hey Guys,

I enjoyed the spot and now would like to give a nice Muscat a try soon.
Happy hyper Gary and a lower key Eric were actually a nice balance – a bit of yin and yang working here.

Also, Eric and his wife Kate (the white wine lover) are personal friends of mine, and he does really does drink white wine – I have witnessed it! 🙂

    Cheers ALL!

Gauntlet was HUGE when it came out, a bit expensive, so I couldn’t play it that much, but even now I think back fondly when someone says out loud: WARRIOR SHOT THE FOOD.

A very good episode, and a very cool guest. Recently had a Beringer Muscato and was really quite surprized that it had character and was not bad at all.
