I dont like makeup on men or women, I like beutiful skin which comes from good health, clean water and a little tlc. Speaking of natural beuaty, Im having real trouble finding true, interesting, vegetal, mineral, dry, old world wines in the boston area. Everywhere I go even the chinon and sancerre is sweet and fruity or just boring and thin, while the good burgundy and bordeuax is out of my CKC price range. Where should I be looking and are there other wines I should seek out for under 20 that have this rustic quality I just cant find? Please help.

I don’t like makeup. I agree with you about overoaked wines. Even if there is great juice in there, and sometimes there is, it becomes so much like a cheaper oaky wine that I think it’s a waste of the potential. Perhaps Ken P doesn’t understand that. (would insert smiley but don’t know how … no offense, Ken)

Never been a fan of Chile, something about the terrior in the wines is almost always a turn off for me.

NIce show Gary. I have had some good wines from Chiles neighbor Argentina, but maybe only one from Chile. I will have to look into pinots from chile next time I am pinot shopping. 🙂

QOTD: Don’t do eyeliner, but I did use a little nail polish years (and years) ago. Then it became the thing for guys to do and I had to stop. I don’t mind being odd, it’s when the odd is a conforming thing that I hate.

Interesting episode.
First let me tell you that I can’t believe you gave the Luis Miguel wine a good score… I am a bit biased, I bought one out of curiosity since Luis Miguel is a very over the top singer and his wine is exactly like him, a lot of hype and a lot of push but in the end there are better wines both in Chile and in Mexico (where he’s from), Istill say he owes me for that one.

I like the Porta Pinot and Voignier wines, and Casa Silva Carmenére better than the Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon but they make a killer Merlot.

QOTD: I’ve only wore makeup once as an extra for a short film a friend of mine was making for his film school thesis project, I was geisha number 4, oh yes, white face and black lines, wig, the whole shebang.

Can blueberries be boring? I would hate to taste that wine.

Makeup on men reminds me of the time when Santa was so glad to be done delivering presents that he went out wine tasting with a few of the helpers. Well, Santa got so ripped that he forgot that Mrs. Claus was waiting at home with cold dinner. So Santa took off his shoes and tiptoed in to find his furious wife getting right up in his face. Santa looked down to see the lip-stick on his collar, and right away started to apologise. Mrs. Claus replied: It’s not the lip-stick on your collar that bothers me; it’s the leg make-up on your ears!

Gary, you should do a blind tasting with some top cabs from Chile (Almaviva, Don Melchor, Sena, Chadwick…).
