The sound recording was a bit dodgy in this episode but since GV unearthed a monster wine we’ll let him off!

Yo G, Those looked like some Coooool Vinos !! Like the Peach-Fuzz
look (beard). Ya otta keep it goin’ till the Jets lose their first
    game….. 🙂

qotd: Music: Green Day, Ramones, Avril Lavigne, Go Gos, Joan Jett,…
TV: Fox News Channel, Headline News Channel, Angels/Dodgers Baseball
Movies: Haven’t watched one in awhile

  • Good epi, GEEVEE. I have a couple of bottles of the ’04 l’Hortus Grande Cuvee, but haven’t opened one yet. Hope they are as good as the ’05, which I will buy based on your rec.

Three recommendations from me: 1. Shave. 2. Button another button on your shirt. 3. Learn how to pronounce French. Just teasing! Actually, I don’t shave except when the circumstances absolutely require, my French pronunciation sux oeufs, but even though I’m a hairy-faced afrancophone just like you, I’m still way too cool to go around with three buttons open–like somebody is interested in getting a peek at my hairy tit!

    QOTD:

Music — Right now I am gone on Beth Orton, Aimee Mann, Lucinda Williams.

Movies — Films by that good Austin, Texas boy, Richard Linklater — Before Sunrise/Before Sunset, the deepest true love story ever told.

TEEVEE — I don’t watch it, except for sports, and sometimes I’ll watch whatever happens to be on when the wife is wanting to snuggle up in front of the boob tube. (Highly educated individuals, such as myself, will never admit to watching TEEVEE, so take this with a grain of salt!)

Cool show, know nothing about the region, will need to a do a little homework.

    QOTD:

Music – lately? Halestorm, Dream Theater.
Movies, TV – whatever my children are watching.
Oher – work absorbs all other time not involving family.

  • I thought you were relegated to the janitor’s closet with that background and bucket or hiding from the G-Men inundating your state but thank goodness, it’s a vibrant and kick-ass working environment. Alot of peeps there doing the biz!

Nice show about a great area that features true winemakers who don’t try to gouge you just because it’s “French.” I will be sure to add both to my repertoire when ordering. Of course, by now, the 2nd wine will be unavailable but that’s ok. I’m in no hurry. I have a few bottles to tide me over.

    QOTD:
Music: Mozart, Michael Jackson, Diana Krall/Alicia Keys
Movies: No Reservations, 9-1/2 Weeks, Casablanca and the new Harry Potter!
TV: In Treatment (hands down the best show ever on TV), House, LOST, Wimbledon just recently. Federer is amazing!

    Cheers!

Glad to see you are expanding the your regions. Love the wines as I have drank them at the vineyard when I was in France. You were dead on target with your review (in my opinion). Keep up with the hidden deals, and I’ll continue to follow you.

Thanks for putting out this episode. The echo wasn’t pleasant, but no big deal. This is one of those times when you’ve got me; I can’t remember having had a Pic St Loup wine. I’ll have to find some. That’s part of what I like so much about your show. I drink and taste a fair amount of wine, but every once in a while you remind me of a category that I’m neglecting.

music: Grateful Dead, anything John Scofield does
movies: I Heart Huckabees, The Fountain
    TV: The Simpsons, The Wire

Those are just a couple of examples of each. I don’t watch any TV on TV, but I watch some shows on dvd and online.

Pic St. Loup – nice picks, good exposure. Other fave Languedoc AoC’s are Minervois, and St. Chinian, just to name a couple….

QotD – Good question, though as I said the other day, “There’s no accounting for taste…. mine inclusive.”

Movies – #1 all time greatest is Ingmar Bergman’s “The Seventh Seal”, 1957?, in Swedish. #2. Stanley Kubrick’s “Dr. Strangelove” – all star cast. sick; hilariously absurd. Oscar worthy performances all around.

Undiscovered killer bands at my live music venue lately – Shilpa Ray and Her Happy Hookers (Brooklyn), Other Lives (Oklaholma), Everyday Visuals (Mass.)

TV – Nova, Frontline on PBS, The Soup, Manswers too, but they’re stingey w/ the new segments.

Oh, yeah, and my greatest favorite TV show ever – The Outer Limits, from 1964-1966 just started airing on the THiS channel on cable.

  • The Hortus is already sold out at 9 pm! Damn. Anyways, I love the Languedoc and Pic St. Loup. I’ve been searching out bargain French wines for years and this is one of the AOCs that delivers every once in a while. I’ve had sub-$20 wines that drink like $40 Bordeaux.

Sorry don’t really watch much tv other than sports. I listen to sports radio (ESPN Colin Cowherd’s my favorite–I remember when GV was on!). I’m most only the internet reading wine blogs, tweeting, etc.

Wow, did you see that guy in front give you the finger towards the end of the show? I loved it! All of the Sherlock Holmes movies are really excellent, and can be watched over and over again.
