lines of the day – ‘point to that Supernerd over there’ and ‘It’s like when you don’t go to clubs anymore and you go to lounges’

Would’ve scored much higher but for the poor sound quality of the guest. She’s either got a very, very small voice or there was something wrong wih her Mic. Mott tried to step in and help but didn’t work. Shame. The bar looks like a great place to go…one day perhaps.

Gary; I want to marry her! The bar was a tad too noisy but I could still just about hear her; she is awesome! Ok I need to calm down.. as for German Riesling – the best white wine in the world – no question.

  • Paryb

Looked like she had a mic. Too bad it wasn’t working…what can ya do though, technical problems in a remote location on a one shot show…well they happen, you guys still continue to pump out the best content on the web.

QOTD: Reisling is one of my favorites, and German Reisling is some of the best. That being said, best reisling I ever had was from New Mexico…go fig.

With all those guys in tiaras, I was having Mardi Gras flashbacks!

QOTD — great Rieslings come from Germany, but at under $20, a lot of other places are equal

  • OK, first let me say: “what a gorgeous girl/queen” pretty hands as well, there…

Now, second, I could hardly hear her from the background noise… the sound levels were a bit unbalanced which is unfortunate because you had a very interesting guest and wines. Enough complaining.

I like German wines, have never tasted Schmitt’s though (the bottle has a fun shape). I believe the Zilliken was the winner here, great. Wearing the Tiara was a fun quirk.

QOTD: I truly enjoy Rieslings, even by themselves they are phenomenal.

  • Krunch

Need to get that Mic. situation taken care of, Could not hear the queen, But could hear the table in the corner.

Enjoyed the show for what it was worth, But Too be honest I think most could just PAZZZZZZZZ on this one and wait another 3 days for the next one.

QOTD: Sorry could not hear it, or I would have answered.

Sorry Gary – You get 75 points on this show.

Awesome! Love the German Rieslings, especially ones with a good balance of friut, “sweetness” and acidity. Can I be a Super Geek too? ; )
BTW, Statesides, Chateau St. Michelle (WA) makes a decent, yummy Riesling for under $10 (CA) and I had a lovely J. Lohr (CA) White Riesling that had 4% RS with some nice lemon notes and a frizzante finish which helped keep it from flabbiness($8.50: From Winery: CA) On the slightly sweeter side, Navarro Rieslings are excellent! ($18: From Winery Only) Their dry Gewurztraminer rocks as well ($19: From Winery Only).

I just had to stop the episode to comment on one thing: Gary….I think I have heared you call “clove” , “cove” a couple times now! Is it just me, or are you saying “cove”? Besides that though, KILLER show! I am a proud member of the last %3 of peeps that get crazy about Riesling….its starting to dominate my cellar:) Back to the show……….

You should wear a tiara more often GV. It suits you. Like the Riesling wines but prefer Alsace. Not really a fan of the sweeter wines but the trocken rieslings are more my style.

I thought we had a survey about mikes awhile ago and decided to mike the guests. Had to skip this episode b/c I couldn’t hear a thing your lovely guest was saying. Pity 🙁

QOTD: Love reisling, the older the better. Had an ’82 Spatlese for my college graduation in ’04, it was absolutely knock-my-socks-off fantastic!

  • ex-lurkdawg

I liked the episode, but the sound problem made it almost unwatchable. I think German wines are great, especially the rieslings. I love German riesling. I think there are good ones in all price categories (except the really inexpensive since I live in the US) and all styles (dry to sickeningly sweet and everything in between). I love that it’s one of the most ageworthy white wines.

I Crush It (the wine queen).

  • Adam J

QOTD: I consume, bar far, more German riesling than any other category. Mosel probably 60% of the time, with Rheingau and Nahe taking up most of the other 40%. Pfalz reds are also delicious in the summer. This episode inspired me…to pick up some 2002 Zilliken Saarbuger Raush and let it go a few more years:) Thanks for the show! Sound was slightly hard to hear, but the content more than made up for it!

QOTD: Limited experience, but like what I’ve had a lot. Just last week, my cousin and her sig other were here from their home in Berlin and we shared a very nice wine they had brought with them. Name escapes me at this moment, but it was a very nice bottle.

Can she always be on the show? Maybe your she’s the Ed McMahon to your Johnny Carson….the Andy Richter to your Conan, only much better looking, much much

QOTD: Without doubt one of the most exciting complex varietals in the world. I love it, and to that end am slowly learning patience to let my good bottles sleep longer.

Hey Gary, I think you have some dirt under your lower lip. How embarrasing in front of the Queen.
