Gary, I’m absolutely speechless. I was so disappointed after the pizza schmuck episode yesterday that my brain cannot comprehend that you come back from that disaster and have Heidi Barrett on today’s show. She is without a doubt a living legend in American winemaking. I am floored.

Gary, you’re back. I almost gave up on you after the pizza show. You were terrible. Gross – eating pizza, over the top – dissing the guest, missing – tieing the wines into the pizza. Heidi was great and you let her run. For an older person I was surprised at “awesome” – that’s what college kids say. Keep this up and I may watch you until I go on Medicare which is next year. Be wine, be true to wine.

I’ve always known that Heidi was iconic, so it was great to hear Heidi’s history from her own lips.

Terrific guest. The best shows are when gary talks to this legends becuase you learn so much. I wish you asked her about the movie because i have seen it and the book….I know the movie is alot of fiction and the book is great. She is so classy and smart, that it ruins the movie. I cant imagine her just sleeping with that gustavo guy over a glass of wine. BTW that gustavo character is not even mentioned in george tabers book, hollywood execs are full of crap.

Why is she so sexy? She knows everything about wine. Speaks spanish i am sure, speaks german i am sure, and seems to be very nice. Perfect woman great show.btw i speak german and spanish.

Re: Screaming Eagle
It is my understanding that Jean Phillips held the line on production to about 500 cases. Even after their great success. Also, Prices stayed fairly stable (compared to auction). I have heard it was the people on the mailing list that made so much money at auction. I always admired Ms Phillips for sticking to her philosophy. The way she acquired the property is amazing as well. (if i have my facts correct).
I’m sure HB wants to talk about La Sirena but the Screaming Eagle part of her career is amazing. The Napa Wine Co. advertises themselves as “cult wine central” but it sounds like Heidi was The Show in Napa in the early ’90s!!!!

I agree with everybody – great guest, great history of Californian wine, and I CAN’T WAIT to see part 2! Why? Because I want to hear both Heidi’s opinion AND VERY IMPORTANTLY YOUR OPINION on the wines. This is, after all, why I tune in.

This is because we can always count on you being basically Brutally Honest when it comes to evaluating the wines(whether the guest is sitting next to you or not). We count on this.

If you, after listening very patiently to your guest, have to nicely rip them a new one about their wines, well, we respect you for that. After all, you are our Wine Advocate(no pun intended), and we enjoy seeing you eventually taking control of your show and letting Gary be Gary.

Your are how I end my day – I have a glass of wine in the evening and watch your show – it’s fantastic!
