line of the day – ‘I’m on fire with ‘quite’ and ‘quotes”

I love Port so I loved this episode. Two things stood out: Mott trying his best to ‘Crush it’ and a close up of GV’s nails – boy does he bite those poor fingernails…

Love Port, really nice show as well.

QOTD: Love port, but normally can’t afford the really good stuff. Typically stick with Jonesy and love the Sandeman’s Pedro Ximenez sherry. Like liquid raisins….

I love me some Roaring 40’s. And Cabrales. And Shropshire. And Cottswold/ Huntsman/Stilton, etc.

Port and blue cheese! My favorite!

  • Caleb Sexton

I’m happy to see you tasted the ’77. Both the port and I were born that year. I have been looking to get my hands on some lately.

Great episode! My sons are ’83 and ’85 vintage so naturally that is where my cellar and heart is on port although have a few ’77 remaining. I am right with you on blue cheese and port simply the best.
Unfortunately often the port doesn’t come out until you (I) have had enough to drink.
Missed teaching moment, when zooming in on the ’94 the paint mark was visible to the camera, next time…

  • I love port and I loved doing the tours of the port houses in Oporto, yet I rarely find myself buying it. Kind of strange, but I guess I don’t usually buy dessert wines at all very often.

My only experience with some aged port is a bottle of Graham?s Malvedos ?86 (not a generally declared year) which we opened for my sisters 23rd birthday and it was pretty amazing. See my tasting notes here:
