GV raw and unplugged. Absolutely love these spontaneous shows. Who else would have the balls to walk into a wine bar unannounced and start filming off the cuff? Answer – no one!

I’ll be in New York again in December for Channukah with family in Brooklyn. I am in love with New York. It’s absolutely terminal.

Surprised you were able to get anything out of that Toad Hollow, I had the ’06 and after half a glass of alcoholic, bitter water I dumped the rest of the bottle down the sink. Maybe i need to try the ’07.

  • Kittysafe

Here’s a thought: Add an edit option so people can edit their own post, so when they post “#5” or some similar comment that is retarded and stupid and completely irrelevant and meaningless they can go back and edit it to add some actual goddamn substance to their posts!!!!

I love this format! It’s a departure from the normal thunder show for sure, but a successful one. It’s good to mix it up.
QOTD: I had a Spanish verdejo by the glass that was the most disjointed wine I’ve ever had. I had an Oregon Pinot that blew me away that same night. Sorry, but don’t remember either one of them and my Cellar Tracker notes don’t extend to wines by the glass…
    Great show!

Gary, screwtop wines can be “corked” because TCA taint can come from the winery., not just a faulty cork, you know that.

Nice Blair Witch-style filming. It made me a bit dizzy. But I love this departure from the norm.

great format, nice play on the tribeca streets, wish you could of walked over a few more blocks and rolled in on nobu, sorry about the twitter fumble today with calling it vayermedia instead of vaynermedia, no biggie, i jumped on the ball in the end zone to prevent the safety.

Gary, You know I love you but for christ’s sake please learn to read! 😉 It’s Toad’s not Todd’s Hollow, jeesh.

Qotd: worst was last night at very blah restaurant in NYC called Crispo. was a Chianti Classico reserva that was nothing but barnyard-dirty dirty wine. We also had a bottle of very boring masterbriandi (sp) Falanghina and my day had a meh glass of some “super tuscan” Very dissapointing!

Best: rarely order by the glass but most SF restaurants have very good wine programs as apposed to NYC so I am spoiled.

I think you bought those bottles, because Jim didn’t understand when you send by the glass but bring the bottle so I can show them. He opened those two at your table, I’ve never seen that by the glass.

QOTD;can’t get a good one around here.

  • Love the idea! Awesome!

Love that casual format – It just shows how easy it is to buy a flip cam – show up to wine bar and start filming….Another top effort Gary!!!

qotd….Best- Domaine Duroche Burgundy Grand Cru 2005 – $25glass – not many places have Grand Cru bungundy’s by the glass – it was extraordinary
Worst – 2007 Rockbare AUS Chardonnay $16 glass – could have bought 2 bottles of Yellow Tail Chard for the same price…

    GARY!!!
    Lovn the NY beat…
Happy to hear about Misha..and your parents big move. 🙂 (How could they have resisted living closer to that angel?!?!)
Were those wines cold? Or is just that its so hot here in NY?

QOTD: I really dont remember the wines that I dont like… As for the best by the glass…I had that Fladgate port..I thought that was awesome!

Gary, you look so cool in the heat? How do you do it? 😉
    Love ya.

Musing: IF I’m going to drink a white, I do prefer a fume blanc…

    Pinot Rose:
    Cedar–hmm, I think I’d like.
Cream–can’t imagine it outside a red (but don’t drink much other than red…)
    I think I’ll try.

    Pass on the other one.

    QOTD:
Worst–some kind of house white zinfandel I had to get at St. Louis Ribs because they didn’t have any reds…that should have been my 1st clue.
    Best–here I go again: Haley’s Mill 2005 Cab, without a doubt

  • Gary, I love the Flip, but like any lens it’s got a minimum distance for focusing. If you want to try and get that close are you able to zoom?

QOTD: I know the worst by far: Layer Cake Malbec. Not sure about the best.

Nice show. I like this format every now and then. Especially since I live in NYC, quite cool to see you hanging out in wine bars around the city. you should score their wine list as a whole… for quality, ability to expand palates, etc.

QOTD: Best red by the glass in 2009 was an Ex-Libris I had at Telepan (great restaurant near Lincoln center) – made of various top notch Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington. Also, had some great by the glass 2004 Barbaresco at Otto (Batali’s pizza place – you should tape a show there!)

Not loving the shaky camerabut like the on location format. Turks & Frogs is a place I enjoy to pop into when I am in SoHo now & again. Keep it moving V MAN!

  • My eyes hurt.

QOTD: I’d tell you if I could remember. I don’t do a lot of “by the glass” wine. If I’m out and don’t get a bottle, I go to beer.

  • mrzitro

QOTD: worst so far Layer Cake Primitivo
