lines of the day – ‘dissecting these wines for my palate (which is why you watch the show – not for these clowns) and ‘don’t touch the Jets spit bucket EVER AGAIN’

Not my favourite format…I don’t particularly want to hear the views of Joe Public, and once again the sound didn’t work on the audience

    Hey Gary,

QOTD: 2006 Rutherglen Estates ?The Reunion,? a GSM blend. Deep red-purple color, great dark fruit & tobacco nose, terrific flavor of dark fruit, chocolate, tobacco & some oak. Paired fantastically with Brix dark chocolate!

I appreciate the try w/ the mike, but you’ve got to turn it on to hear anyone! Between that & Gary’s echo (echo… echo…) this was hard to make it through.

QOTD: It’s tried & true, but I’ve never had bad luck with the Kim Crawford SB.

The bitter rival to Australia?!?! WHAT THE!!!!
An an Australian I have a million percent confidence that is not true.
The American Physic of wines is interesting but slightly off the boil. Hey we are all different that is whats cool about the wine world BUT like yourself Gary having been to major wine producing countries of the world and trying thousands of wines big calls like bitter rivals is a far fetched comment.

loved the bad mike. Reminded me of the star trek episode where some of the crew got zapped by radiation and turned into god-like creatures. Kirk tried to maroon them on an uninhabitable planet that looked like Denver.

    Go Chargers!

Never underestimate the power of repeating examples, stories etc… when evaluating wines.

Even though I hear some of the same descriptors over and over, it’s comforting as it really helps me confirm and solidify my thoughts, as to what to look for in evaluating wine.

    Another great, informative show.

(Oh…and smart play, always putting the girls near you where they can be seen – worked for me).

  • Thirsty Work

Australia has so many stunning small family owned wineries, that consistently produce exceptional wines at a range of price points. Unfortunately many US consumers don’t get to see what Australia offers. Why not reveal some of these ‘gems’ – there are plenty to choose from?

QOTD: It’s hard to point a favorite australia/new zealand wine, but one that jumps out in my memory is The Blue Eyed Boy by Molly Dooker. I tend to not be the biggest fan of the Molly Dooker wines, but this one stood out to me for some reason, very velvety and luscious.

You need to get to the east coast of Australia GV. Tasmania, Victoria, ACT & NSW are states small production refined crackers, and have been for decades – pity Aussie exports of those wines aren’t flying in the States right now.

    QOTD
Dominique Portet Cab/Shiraz 2007 “André”. A revelation. But there are countless others. The depth of the James Halliday Books shows there is no answer.

  • Nice start Mark Sanchez. An interception to a nose gurd who took it to the house. Gary, I would love to see your reaction to that play vs. your reaction on draft day on split screens.

QOTD: 1990 Penfold’s Grange. An example of one time where the critics did not overrate.

I don’t like these episodes with guests who are not into it.
The woman on your right side was better looking than Mobutu yesterday. But she holds her glas like a beerglas. Just kidding. I don’t like it.
    The sound is awfull.

QOTD. I don’t drink a lot of these wines.
From New Zealand: Life from stone
    From Australia: Preece

    Both not to dy for.

Get rid of the guests. The whole time the woman in red was nodding her head and making sure her hair was in the right place. This is a wine show not a fashion show…..
