    I think that was the year I packed up my mom and sis in my RV and took off for Palm Springs. We wen’t to Indian Wells for the tennis and mom put us up at the Hyatt. Meeting Marat Safin in the hallway of the hotel and actually remembering his name. Parking my beatup RV right in front of the hotel(handicap zone for mom)was just way too cool. Good food, good tennis, good wine.

    Good episode, i hate myself for drinking all my 2000 bordeaux already. it’s so good that is hard to hold onto. cellartracker helps that if others have that problem…AMM

  • Great QOTD: The best thing about that year was getting my first car. It was a 1987 Buick Le Sabre “Custom.” White with blue cloth interior. I don’t care what anyone says, there’s nothing better in high school than a massive bench seat in front.

    It’s too bad that you haven’t read comments in a while, because having the old Buick get a shout out on WLTV would be so great.

    2000 was unremarkable by itself, but it help lay the foundation for better years afterward.

    Great show! I wonder how many others, like myself, swish, swirl, and smack right along with you, Gary. I agree about St.julien. A neighbor of Branaire-Ducru, Ducru-Beaucailiou, has a really similar taste profile. Ridge Monte-Bello with some bottle age is the US equivalent. Wonderful!

    Hey Gary, great fun to hear about the Branaire! That’s the highest score (next to Robert Mondavi Napa Cabernet) that I’ve seen you give. You’re getting me pumped to try more wines from across the pond.
