Easy drinking episode, but the whole thing is a bit too cosy to blow my socks off. Still having said that I’m looking forward to part two!

The hell’s going on? it just did it again. Third time’s the charm? I found the stats most interesting. I certainly plan on being in the >14 group as soon as I get out of college & can afford it regularly. Keep in mind, of course, that price ain’t everything when it comes to quality wine.

Got engaged over a bottle of Chimney Rock 99 Reserve Cab so I am stoked to hear part 2 of the interview. Btw, first time to comment and I am loving the show.

Hi Gary, Terrific show and it’s great to see you back in the studio. Alexis Lichine does have a fascinating story. I am glad you stopped the interview as the name was hard to hear. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexis_Lichine

Very cool … get on with part 2!

ps… one of the Hudson Valley wineries, Millbrook, is owned by the same guy as William Selyem, definatly loving the Russian River Pinots.

Nice part 1 GV. Throwing down some big names – always fun. Was interesting to watch you push a little on the “why push so hard to make Russian River taste exactly like Burg” – could tell you didn’t totally agree – yet showed respect for the man, talents, and experience – nicely done. Looking forward to part 2 – thanks.

  • Gary,

It’s nice to have guests and have them tell their story, if we could hear it properly (at least on the itunes version).
I’ve noticed that all the time, the guest’s audio level is half if not 1/3 of yours. It’s really annoying and makes it difficult to hear the conversation. Typically to hear the guest you have to raise the volume and then when you chime in I go death ’cause it goes back to being really loud!

PS: You should try to review some «Rouge d’Alsace» – is a red wine made in Alsace but not classified as Pinot Noir.

Gary that was one of the finest shows you have ever put out, and that was before the wine even got poured. I like this new Serious Interviewer Gary character you are trying out. Less interruptions, thoughtful questions, really a great job. Keep it up.

  • GREAT guest! Loved all the stories. Keep ’em coming.
Can’t wait for part 2. I’ve spent some time at the next
2 wineries coming up, so this should be interesting.
I laughed at your “I kinda feel sorry for this Rutherford Hill Merlot…”

  • Gary, haven’t watched this episode yet, however, being a lurker since I started watching in March, I knew I owed you the thanks you deserve. Thank you for my ever-evolving wine education. We live in NH, and we visited the store in April.

I too, am 33, a father of 3 ( i know you just had your first), and husband to my best friend and all around partner in life. Wine, is, and always has been, a part of my life. My parents are italian immigrants and my father, at almost 80, still continues to make his own wine. My more formal education into wine has lead me on a journey to try well over a hundred different wines since march of this year. It has been more than fun, and very interesting. Price points are a key, so I expect to try a lot of crappy stuff, however, the gems that we have discovered have made the journey well worth it.

Here is to our continued journey. Salute!
